I was just wondering how long the process takes to get to Korea for an off season ps if all documents are already in order. So what is the timeline from accepting a position to actually getting to Korea with documents in hand. Also, how can you know if you are getting into a good school from abroad (ie contacting teachers?)

I came in the off season as did many of my friends. My process took about a month with my papers all ready. If I can remember correctly, I think they wanted me to come earlier but I had to finish up some work back home. I replaced a girl just two weeks after she quit. My friends said it was about 3 weeks for them.

If you can find a PS who is without a teacher and you got your papers ready it seems to happen quickly. They want someone asap because they will be hanging without a English teacher.

How to know if it is a good school? That is the million dollar question, the only way to find out is if you go. I dont know if you can contact the previous teacher with PS jobs, my recruiter was awesome he told me the county I was going to and that it was an elementary school. That was all the info he had, the only way to know is to contact the head of English teacher recruiting for the Province you are working in, they will know exactly who left.

But even if you do manage to contact the past teacher be aware their opinion may be biased.

Thanks so much for the reply. I just found out my fbi check ends may 18th and wasn't apostilled so I just sent it in. Any idea how long it will take to get back? Does that mean I can't apply yet since apostille fbi check not in hands. Thanks!

It took exactly a month for me to get my cbc back from the Department of State. I mailed it in Priority, and used a money order for payment (wanted to be sure there were no issues on that side). If you live near DC, you can also walk in and drop it off.

Get packing if you got your paperwork together. You don't know because the experience is different for each individual.

your cbc check has to be apostilled and current before you apply, correct? Recruiters will only accept you if ALL paperwork is done, right?
