One group supports the one political party. The other group of "fighting seniors" opposes the political party.
The pushing and fist throwing relate to this story:
The controversy concerning Uri Party chairman Chung Dong-young's disrespectful statements about old people refuses to die down, with the Korean Association for the Elderly (Korean: Daehan No-in-hoe) calling for Chung's official resignation and political retirement and the chairman receiving harsh criticism from locals along the campaign trail. The Korean Association for the Elderly called on Chung to resign his positions and retire from politics for saying people in their 60s and 70s need not vote and may rest at home.

No offense, but old people should stay home. I dont see how some geezer who will croak in a year should be deciding the fate of the country over the long haul. |

Ha ha. I'm not up on my Korean politics, tokki, but you just pretty much quoted verbatim what a man from one of the political parties in Korea said earlier. Caused a bit of an uproar... |

Its my opinion. None of those geezers, or maybe 10% will ever be around to see their votes really have any effect. I really think they shouldnt vote. Old people have no stake in a country's future cause they will be dead soon anyway. I think this is logical. I dont vote in Canadian elections, even though I could, because Imnot going back. Why should I have any influence on the politics back there if I will never again live there? |

A troll really should be better disguised than that. |

Not a troll, eh? Well, okay. Now I guess we can all have a reasoned, point- counterpoint debate about Tokki's well considered thesis that the elderly have no right to vote. |

They have a right. They just shouldnt use it.I have a right to vote as an expat in Canadian elections, but I dont because why should I have any impact on what happens there? Im not going back, so I dont think I should vote. Not all elderly shouldnt vote. Im talking about people extremely old, who will croak soon after the election. |

I can see you're not trolling, tokki, but you have to consider just how important the elderly vote in America will be in a matter of 10 to 15 years when all the baby boomers have retired. |

The number of people who know for a fact that they will croak soon after an upcoming election is pretty miniscule. Hence, your thesis has little if any bearing on actual practice. |

If you are 60 or 65 then you pretty much willlive a while. After 70, I think its pushing it. Old people vote with outdated prejudices and outdated notions and I think that its simply wrong of them to stand in the way of progress when they will be gone pretty soon. That is simply selfish. |
