Its only weeks away until I land in Seoul. Its not the first time I have been to korea but would still like to know what would be the best mobile tariff? Should i go for the pay as you go or contract.

Before i used pay as you go but found it difficult to top up where i was in Icheon in 2008.

Cheers

If you never use your phone. Pay as you go might be cheaper
but if you use your phone regularly, and if you're going to get a smart phone with mobile data, you might as well go contract.

55,000/month will get you unlimited data with any of the carriers.
The phone prices depends on if you want to spread it out or pay it at once.
The usefulness of a smartphone in Korea is pretty high though. Especially if you don't know Korean well. You can use a lot of map, subway, and bus apps to help you get around and find stuff without having to do charades with Koreans on the street.

Thanks,

I arrive in korea in a few weeks to work for the SMOE. However, i have been told that the co teacher normally hands you a phone and thats that.

How accesable is pay as you go, I had so many problems trying to top up in Icheon.

No, you're perfectly capable of going and getting your own phone these days. A couple years ago it was much more difficult and co-teachers often had to get their contract in their name, etc. Don't expect the co-teacher to hand you a phone at all.
