I'm just amazed that people TAKE student loans. Getting some sort of education beyond high school is important, yes. But if you don't have the money for ivy league/private university, that's what community college and state universities are for. Save up, work during school, it's easily doable.
I'm not saying that loans are a bad idea, but the way people jump all over them as opposed to taking other options amazes me.
DD, two choices. One, college is not worth the money, so don't take the loan. Two, college is worth the money, so take the loan and pay it back. There is NO argument to be made that paying back what you owe is stupid. No one forced you to take a loan, no one forced you to go to college, no one forced you to spend 10+ years drinking in college letting the loans add up, etc. |
three choices in my world bro and i took freedom -door number 3 please. |

So is your credit completely shot? If so, I hope you're loaded in cash or you have a wife that will let you put all the bills in her name. It's a tough world when you can't even rent an apartment. |

D.D. I fixed that for you. Sad, pathetic creatures that abuse the system and the taxpayer that funds it. |

State universities and community colleges cost money, too. Not everyone has parents who pay for their college. Working during school might cover living expenses but most college students don't make enough to pay bills and save enough money to pay for classes. As for "easily doable," did you work during school? I worked more than full time when I was in school and it definitely wasn't easy. For many, student loans are the difference between getting an education and not getting one at all. I couldn't have done it without loans. |

better than some sad pathetic loan paying idiot who believes in the system. nothing worse than a sleep walking human being who lets themselves be taken advantage of by a system of slavery. I like your word freeloading because it contains the word free. free is much better than asleep. humus mechanicus is not a good species. |

I believe in myself and my abilities. I made a choice to work evenings, weekends and summers from the time I was 15. I knew that if I wanted certain things in life, I would have to pay for them. I am a slave to no one but my ambitions. The system should not simply give itself away to those that feel they are entitled to it. The age of entitlement is upon us where people do no take responsibility for themselves and expect someone from above to solve all their problems. Deus ex machina. |

You had the opportunity to get an education and you chose to borrow the money that would allow you to do that. You signed your name to a document stating that you would pay the money back and now you are refusing to honor your own word. Call it fraud, call it theft, but there is nothing admirable or righteous about what you are doing. Basically, you defrauded the government and stole money from taxpayers. Oh, and good luck renting an apartment, buying a car or a house, or getting a job, as it is very common for employers to check the credit of potential employees. |

| people who follow and support the system even think it is their own thoughts that judge others. Your morals are borrowed and not even real but you have your head up your judgemental butts. any idiot can preach about morals and what is right and wrong but it really comes down to a personal choice in a person that can think for themselves. you guys have been programmed to be good little soldiers making money taking loans and paying interest. good luck with that. |

unlike you I had 900 bucks a month at 10% interest from day one after graduation, no grace period. I offered them 400 which was all I could afford and they said no and sold the loans off to some collection agency. Never felt so bad not paying a scummy collection agency back. In australia you only pay back loans once you earn a certain amount a month, not so in my country.
who has 900 bucks a month to pay a loan 1 day after graduation. |
