So my sister is coming for 10days, and she's going to bring me some snacks.

I also want to give some to my Korean friends as gifts.

The only ones I can think of are Hostess Cupcakes and Honey Buns. Maybe some Little Debbie snacks also.

I tried to think of some more "upscale" snacks than Hostess/Lil Debbie, but can't really remember any.

Any suggestions?

edit: no Twinkies, Reeses PB Cups, or candy.

from my experience, you'll be wasting your time with the nice gesture.
Get them Korean snacks, or you will find whole/half-eaten food in the trashcan in the break room. Koreans are not adventurous when
it comes to trying new food.

It has happened on 2-3 occasions. Have her bring personal items
that you can't get here for yourself.

I know others have had the same experience as myself. I'm not
being jaded, either.

They actually loved the Twinkies, Doritos, and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups that I brought last time. These aren't for co-workers, for friends. All in college atm.

So just some suggestions would be nice.

Beef Jerky
Cookies, quality imported European ones, not Chips Ahoy type crap EL Fudge is acceptable however.
Upgrade the pastries to at least an Entenmann's level
Kettle Brand Potato Chips
Beef Jerky
Dried Fruit
Real Tortilla Chips and Real Salsa if you can somehow keep it cold and smuggle it in.

Yeah if it wasn't for all the foreigner customers there would be no Mexican, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, Middle Eastern, Brazilian, American, or Fusion restaurants anywhere here.

I was thinking about Entenmann's, but they aren't individually wrapped right?

I was also thinking chips, but they might get crushed. And the only beef jerky I've had in the States is the same stuff they have over here, red package, has a bull and horns on it I think...tasted the same to me Laughing

Candy bars that you can't find here. Last year, I found a bunch of limited edition candies (coconut M&Ms, strawberry/PB M&Ms, fudge Snickers) and brought those back for everyone. I also brought some fancy chocolate from a chocolate shop near my old job.

Buy some Girlscout cookies. Help out the scouts and treat your friends/students. Also, it's kind of an interesting topic as I don't think Korean kids hit the streets to raise money for extracurricular activities likes the scouts, little league etc. the way Americans do (or at least did).

I think anything Jalapeno flavored would work out well, like Snyders' pretzels or Crunchers potato chips.

Another thing that might go over well is malt powder. I brought it once for myself and my wife loved it (and finished it off!). Make them malted chocolate milk or if it's not too much trouble, some malted shakes.
