There are the cliched threads - 'Can I work in Korea with a dui,' 'Is anyone here living in Asan..' and so on, but what I love are the responses that inevitably appear on Dave's again and again like clockwork.

For example, there are the Korean oneupmanship responses where users will respond with one word in Korean only to be corrected by another user (with the first mistake often highlighted AND underlined) - only for THAT response to be corrected by someone else...until a gyopo or native speaker will come on here with the actual true and correct response, which will then be debated...

Or the newbie threads, where the OP's question is not answered, but they are instead informed that they definitely do NOT have what it takes to work in Korea, and maybe they should consider China?

Oh Dave's, what a marvellous time waster you are..

Yes. Yes, I am new to internet message boards. Thanks for your sublime observation. You have proven yourself both a wit and a great wag. Now, brush the crumbs off your t its dearie, and get back to whatever else you do to waste your life.

You mean like replying to someone that wastes his life making asinine threads on an internet message board.

what i hate is when someone posts something, for instance "what phrases should i learn before i come to korea- i've already learned how to read and write hangul"

and then several posters chime in saying "you should definitely learn how to read korean, it will help you a lot"

it just goes to show that people don't bother to read anything and just post away.

i agree that it is annoying reading the same thing over and over, although im a gyopo, im far from perfect in korean, but i know my fair share lol

i find it funny that people do constantly try to one up each other. I try to post my input in an actual attempt to help the humankind on daves. good samaritan? nah, just dislike all the wrong/negative info given haha

Say what you will about the eslcafe and its foibles, I still find it to be a treasure trove of information related to living and working in Korea. All hail Ttompatz!

Sure, we get to talking about girls or ajeossis or rip-off taxis but there is also a large amount of info devoted to visas and and contracts and what have you. If a fellow can find these things in other fora, let him know!

Wow, this must be some kind of record. It's only taken two posts for you to move into my 'people who are annoying' category.

Unrelated pun with tinges of self-deprecation.

To the OP:

You should definitely learn how to read and write Korean. It will help you a lot.
