I read on here and I've heard from several reliable sources that it's now possible for E2 holders to get ANY kind of part time job as long as it's approved by your sponsor (principle/director) and you get your paperwork in order.

Does anyone here have a link to a news story or immigration sites that cover this? I'm having a hard time convincing my principal that this is even a possibility for him to look into. Evil or Very Mad

It's always been possible.

You said principal so I assume public schools.

I've done that with the PS system. I had three contracts at one point.

You have to be on good terms with the principal though. Many don't want to do it even if they know the laws. It doesn't really benefit them at all.

With public schools you cannot work another part time job....even Koreans can`t do that (not saying it doesn`t happen though on the sly though).

The only extra kind of work you can legally undertake is through the same program (ie: your main EPIK job, plus an afterschool/other school job but it must be EPIK affiliated).

Hagwon`s are a different matter.....but good luck convincing a hagwon director to allow you to work elsewhere unless you have a good relationship.

If you go to immigration they will let you work wherever you want outside of your school as long as it's listen on your visa. However, you can't just get some kind of "general tutoring" sponsorship, it has to be at a specific school or location, which makes it kind of hard to legally do privates, considering you have to go around to lots of random places. Honestly, it's easier just to do it without telling anyone, including your bosses. You risk, of course, getting deported, but if you need the money that bad, then you're going to do it anyways.

Either way, call Kimmi and they'll explain it to you.

Hagwons are only paranoid about it because they think you'll work for a competitor... little do they know that we have no company allegiances and we would never ever work for a separate hagwon instead of doing private 1-on-1's.

This would have nothing to do with education whatsoever. I've heard from several business owners (restaurants, bars, etc.) that they are now able to hire E2s for part time positions. I just need to find something on paper to show the big P before he'll even consider looking into it. We're on good terms, but he can be a salty, stubborn SOB.
