Also, the poster above who said it takes 4 to 6 weeks for an apostille might confuse some. It takes 4 to 6 weeks for the CBC to be returned from the FBI, but only about 2 weeks for them to apostille it once you end it back to the State Department.

(Diploma apostille I got...FBI CBC...no idea)

Once you get the CBC, they won't put the seal on it even if you send it back to the FBI. Send for another one right away and make sure you include a letter saying you want the seal. Once you get the CBC you have to send it to the USA secretary of state in Washington, look up the specific address for this on the website for the Secretary of State. It's a federal document not state document. If you go to there office in Washington you can have it Apostilled the same day. The agency providing the document has to have the seal put on it before they give it to you, otherwise how does anybody else know that it is authentic? A representative from the FBI has to take it to somebody to have the seal put on it or he has to do it himself, because it's thier document that is being authenticated. You might listen to the other suggestions here about how to get it notarized; I don't know if I would though.

The Ohio Sec. of State apostilled my FBI check. I sent it to Korean immigration, they accepted it, I got my visa in the mail today.

I'm from Ohio and I called and was told they can only apostille "a copy" of the FBI CBC. Help!
