Well, the weather's been awesome for cycling the past couple of weeks and it's time to upgrade from my cheap Lespo to something more reliable... and faster!
So, I'm looking for an entry-level roadbike or a hybrid to take on weekend trips. Any suggestions? I really can't justify spending a lot of money on a Western brand at the moment, so I was thinking of getting a Korean-branded one.
PS: a while back someone was selling their R-7 bikes via Dave's (http://www.interpark.com/product/MallDisplay.do?_method=Detail&sch=list&sbn=ane_prd&sc.shopNo=0000100000&sc.dispNo=008001&sc.prdNo=362733906) are those any good? |

The main problem with entry-level Korean brands is that most are one-size-fits-all. Unless you are about 5'5"-5'8", one size does not fit you. Yeah, you can make it work with an extended seat post and a raised stem, but why would you want to? The frame will still be really compact.
Also, if you're planning on taking weekend trips, you might want to invest in something a little better that can at least give you tire options. The 650B-sized wheels on most Korean road bikes have few aftermarket tire options.
I wouldn't buy an R7, but then again, I have a thing for quality. If you're looking at upgrading to an R7 listed at 216,270W, how expensive was your current bicycle?!
I guess what I'm saying here is that you need to give us a price range and a list of features you wish to include in your purchase. Also, it wouldn't hurt to do some research on drive-train components and the like. That way you know what you're getting before you buy. |

You can buy Giant brand bicycles here, and prices start at under 300,000. I ordered my size from a catalog and had it in two days. The shop fit me. I think enuri.com has them, too. |

Thanks Technique. Actually, anything would be an improvement over my current bike! It's one of those cheap Lespos that are OK for getting to work but get really uncomfortable on longer rides.
I was looking to spend between 300-400K but now that I checked out Swampfox's link I'm starting to think about getting a Giant SCR3 (just over 500K). Problem is, my officetel doesn't allow bringing bikes up into apartments and I don't think there's an underground lot for bikes. |

I got an SCR2, been really happy with it. It was the only 'L' size frame I could find in Korea. |
