I had some questions about pulling a runner...
(I plan on coming back to Korea and getting a new job)

- When I get to the airport, can I buy a return ticket? Or will the visa not be canceled because they will know I'm coming back to Korea?

- When I look for a new job, how do I tell recruiters I'm in Korea looking for a new job? Do I just lie and say I came on a tourist visa looking for work (I have all my docs ready)

Thank you.

You won't be lying. That's exactly what you could do, or wait for the new school to process a new visa.

Now, the gray area is whether or not you can get a new visa issued. How far into your current visa are you? I think it is easier to cancel your visa if you are past 6 months. In this case, just hand in your ARC card at immigration and tell them you have no plans on returning. They will cancel it then and you will have to get a new visa or re-enter on a tourist visa.

No need to buy a return ticket unless you are certain you will return.

Consider working in China for a while until your visa issues are settled if you're less than 6 months. Kills time, at least, and you might like it.

-Yes. It doesn't matter to immigration why you're leaving or when you're returning as long as you're handing in your ARC card and getting your current visa cancelled. After that you can come back 5 minutes later on a tourist visa for all they care.

-Yeah, sure, why not? It makes no difference to recruiters, and honestly, most recruiters don't care when people pull runners or shy away from employing them - people don't pull midnight runs for no reason.

Embarassed This is the same Mars Avalanche who wrote a virtual avalanche of slagging posts denigrating other posters as 'bitter" and "worn out", "irresponsible", "making life difficult for good foreigners because of mindnight runs", hoped that they couldn't find work in Korea because according to Mars Avalanche's own supremely lofty standards they don't deserve to, etc etc............ Laughing

Your situation couldn't happen to a better person given your self righteous history here. It's quite appropriate that you are now facing the same things you have condemned others for, including attacks on the characters of other teachers who have faced difficult situations and asked for help with their dilemmas and problems only to be denigrated by you.

A midnight run? I suggest you buy a one way ticket, return home and proceed to eat all those words of disrespect you flung towards other posters. Then add a huge humble pie and eat that too. Hope your indigestion isn't too bad.

I had no idea I was so popular here. Hell I probably post here less than once a week. I don't even think I have 100 posts yet. But since you're here, why don't you tell me? lol

See the above. I made a thread about pulling a runner a couple weeks ago. But since you're my lapdog and follow my every move I may be wrong, lol
