| Sallie Mae still owns about 35K worth of my arse and 2.1 simply isn't going to provide me a living wage and pay that bissch off. |
?
2.1 would easily allow you to repay 1M a month and live comfortably.. -even if you did not want to take on extra work.
Thats far better than what typical stop-gap grad jobs in the west provide. |
2.1 is gross. After taxes the take home is usually around 1.8. 800k a month is doable, but not very comfortable or healthy.
1M a month is 924US. Minus bank and transfer fees, Sallie will only get about 850 of that. At that rate, that's 42 months. 42 continual months, because you wont be able to go home for a month or hit a beach somewhere down south or take anything more than you 10 holidays a year away from the screaming, crying, fighting, whining, snot wiping, vomit mopping, hair pulling stress of kinderbrats.
That also you means by the end of it all, you will have $0 in savings. Or maybe you have some magical way to take 1.8, pay 1M a month, live, pay bills, and stick back more than 10 bucks a month? Please, enlighten me. |

If you really dislike Korea, then 3.5 years is not worth it.
Try Taiwan, Saudi, or elsewhere.
I don't envy your debts, but if you're committed to a few more years in Korea then my advice is to get into it and enjoy it.
I seem to be apparently one of the few foreigners I know who generally speaking likes it here. My secret formula? um...hobbies, interests, and a few good long-term korean and foreign friends. |

Oh don't get me wrong, I like Korea. I just don't like the idea of working nearly 10 hours a day for pennies. |

There are plenty of jobs in the UK especially in the north of England and Scotland that pay that amount without giving you accomodation while paying a much higher tax rate. |
