|
|
I'll be heading up to Seoul this weekend. I've been searching online through various Korean motel sites and I can't find any information about a two-day rate or stay. I'd like to arrive Friday night and depart on Sunday. But I'd like access to the room during the day on Saturday and not have to check out and check in again.
Is this possible?
(Looking to pay 60,000 to 80,000 a night for a cool Korean-style love motel.) |

You'll be fine. There are tons of motels in that area, all well within your price range. |

Oh, I know there are tons of places there. But can I reserve a room at any of them in advance and have it from Friday until Sunday? Or do I have to negotiate that (or even see if it's possible) when I arrive there? |

Your best bet is to find a place when you get there, check it out and if you like it, ask for a discount on the price they give you!
As a single, I wouldn't pay more than 120,000 for 2 nights in Sinchon. |

you'll have the choice of sleeping there for the night and then they'll rent the room out in the day, or keeping it for the whole 2 nights (and days).
my sister came a few months ago and we had to pay extra rates for the day too. it was either that or they'd rent it out others during the day and move her room every night without somewhere to use as a base in the day. |

| you shouldn't have any problems with the rates or the availability. the room quality, however, could be bait and switch. i've been to quite a few motels where the exterior/lobby was nice but room crap. your best bet is to ask to check out the room beforehand. lots of older buildings in seoul have mold issues so keep that in mind also. |

| There's a few hostels you can stay at for 20 a night or try a jim jim bang for 12 (Maximum) a night. If you go the jim jim bang route, bring some ear plugs. 1,000 at Daiso. It gets rowdy friday nights with the occasional drunk fight between the care taker and an ajusshi. Usually the ajusshi wins. I've seen about 4 in my 2 dozen or so overnight stays across Korea. |

Yeah, I did that before (rented it out to other during the day). But it'd be nice to come back in the afternoon and just take a nap or whatever. I usually stay with a friend in Anyang when I come up. leave my stuff there and get a motel later if I needed to but I figured I'd try to just stay in the city this time.

I've never been to a motel that was 60,000 or over that was less than awesome. So I'm not too worried about it.

Good advice on the hostels. I stayed at a nice one when my friend from Canada came to visit. Though this weekend is basically just partying in the city, plus I'm going to be staying there with someone. |
