the hawking a loogie/spitting sound that korean dudes make. this sound used to never bother me, hell, i occasionally hawk up a nice loogie. but now, after living in asia for a few years, it drives me crazy every time i hear it.

it's like the dudes here are trying their hardest to make it sound as dramatic as possible

Gum smacking. It used to drive me mad on the rare occasions that I heard it back home, but here it's everywhere. I don't complain or tsk tsk them, but it's on par with scratching nails on a chalkboard to me.

that hissing through the teeth sound when people are annoyed or perplexed. I hate it because... I'm starting to do it! I'm trying to cut down.

When the person's annoyed or perplexed and making that sound, it doesn't bother me a bit. It's when the person makes that sound and then commences to lie to me, that's when I start imagining a bus running over them.

hawking in china is sort of a biological necessity since there's so much frikin dust here.... whenever i'm visiting seoul i always go through about 3 days of epic phlegming to which afterwards my throat clears up considerably. korea is going to be my detox from china.

When people are smoking on the sidewalk, either while standing or walking past/in front of me, and blow smoke in my face or waft it back toward me. I never even noticed it before, and probably would have thought someone complaining about it was being way too sensitive, but it really gets to me these days.

Spit and then mean mug them while walking away, they'll get it.

It's a rare morning when there's no shiny new spit in the elevator.

Most of the stuff that makes me retch involves the behaviour of Korean men. The women are generally taught not to do it.

*Taking off shoes and unveiling smelly feet on public transport.
*Sucking teeth and a variety of other idle, disgusting mouth noises.
*Burping and slurping while eating.
*Shouting instead of talking.
*Talking with mouth full of food.
* The variety of loud animal-type grunts, howls and yells that echo down the street the moment it gets dark.
*The miserable attitude and passive aggression of some K-men towards foreign guys.

It's only because I lived in Korea that I visit this forum and it's only on this forum that I see the 'lol' thing so, yeah, that's what drives me crazy.

I'm in China now and I think today I'm going to count the number of times I see and/or hear somebody spit... it's going to tax my math skills but it will be interesting to have a number to work with.

Idiot drivers, idiots who drive scooters on crowded sidewalks or narrow paths. The self important, self absorbed men and women here, it shows in everything they do like park their cars where people have to walk. Spoiled, rude kids growing up today. The crappy mediocre media and culture Koreans love............God, I need a vacation from this place!

Are you guys really in China? Seems like we only get reports about how horrible China is recently.

You sure you're not some Korean recruiter trying to slow the flow of teachers from Korea to China? *laugh*
