I'm on the pre-order list for the 2nd batch/group, and I ordered on the 22nd BEFORE the preorder form thing on KT's olleh shop went up. blah. Crying or Very sad I'm hoping to get it either next week or the week after. I've basically gone through every preview, review, unboxing and whatnot just to perve on this phone.

Official launch was today.

As far as I know you'll be able to get it on a plan. Then if you're going to leave the country permanently just cancel your plan subscription and pay off the remaining unsubsidised cost of the phone. With smart sponsor on KT's 55000W/month plan the salesgirl said i'd be paying 224000W? for the phone over 2 years. Not bad. Full price is 847000W.

Is it true that you can get a bit more of a discount on the phone if you subscribe for a new data plan on the FIRST of a month? rather than any other day...? I've heard that around somewhere... but can't confirm.

With SKT, they didn't have any on pre-order because it wasn't necessary as they have plenty in stock Smile Furthermore, I haven't read one single negative review on this phone... amazing stuff!

Never heard anything like that, pretty sure it won't matter what day you sign up since that day would be the start of your billing period. Am I wrong?

As for the provider, KT seems to be more foreigner friendly so I went with them. Extra week or so wait? I'm getting bloody busy anyway, won't have much time to customise it. I don't really mind which provider I go with since both their pricing, network penetration, service whatnot are very similar, crappy 3G speeds included. This doesn't include LG U+ of course. Laughing

Yeah, this phone's been getting 9/10s, 10/10s from every review site, youtube reviews have been praising it left, right and center, battery lasts two days, screen pops out, flash heavy sites don't lag etc. Nothing bad to say about it other than nitpicky things, the back is still thin plastic, boohoo. The standard for smartphones in 2011 or something, lol. Good luck Dear Leader Comrade Steve Jobs, i've got a feeling you'll be losing some sheep in the weeks to come. Cool

Review from engadget:

http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/

Anyone who already has a galaxy s know what process you have to go through to upgrade to this? Does it just mean paying off the rest of the old phone?

Does anybody have a guide up on ordering a phone from the new Olleh Store? I need to get in line and order up my galaxy S2, I don't live anywhere near a global store to do it in person.

It certainly looks like the dogs bollocks......hardware-wise......I hope Samsung have improved Touchwiz. A couple of reviews I read say that they have.

Anyway, it's seems to be easily enough competition for the iPhone 5 when it comes out. That's the main thing.....We really don't want the world of mobile gadgets to be controlled by Apple. Their 'Big Brother' commercial in the 80's seems so ironic now.

Yeah, cause it's so much safer and better to have it controlled by Google. Rolls eyes!

No one is saying any one company should be in control!! That was the point of my post!! Read more carefully. I hope for lots of competition between the mobile device providers.

One thing I don't like is the fact Samsung puts their updates for android out so late. Took like 4 months last time to get froyo.

They "work" until 10 pm every night and it takes longer than all the other companies?

Also the Galaxy S had broken English everywhere like "Message is arrived" and hackers could fix the lag solution that Samsung never could.

Time to buy a product from the company I despise?

Is this phone (going to be) available on LG Telecom or should I switch to KT? Yes, answered that myself with about 10 seconds on the LG U+ site I didn't see a price though, is 847k the standard across providers?

A little off topic, does it cost anything to enroll on Smart Sponsor?

Does LG have a similar "unlimited data" plan to KT's i-Value with Smart Sponsor? They have a Smart 55 -- unlimited data for 55k; which is priced the same without any sort of "Smart Sponsor" deal -- again used their site

What about rooting it?

Also, I've heard the Motorola Atrix is good (Tegra 2). Anyone consider that?

There's a big difference between having one company design one part of the phone (os) and having one company control the os, hardware, apps, and the interface to communicate with the phone (iTunes). If Apple could get away with it, they would love nothing more than require everyone to use a Mac to interface with their phones, tablets, and mp3 players. In fact, the original iPods were like this. Luckily, the PC market is diverse enough and most buyers are smart enough not to buy an Apple. We should all thank Google for giving customers a choice of Samsung, LG, Motorola, etc. smartphones. Without Android, they would all be dead in the smartphone market.
