Apple just confirmed an April release for the iPad 2.

Quote:
iPad 2 will be available in Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and additional countries in April, and in many more countries around the world in the coming months.

anyone have any experience with loading Korean e-books/e-comics (manhwa) onto an ipad or ipad 2?

i'm entertaining the thought of getting one, but am curious whether or not it'll be easy/difficult/impossible to read them on it...

I've put plenty of books and comic books on my ipad but not any Korean ones. I think that what matters is that you have the right application and that the file is in the right code. The language probably doesn't matter. (my guess for the latter)

The ibooks app handles any file in epub or pdf format. I like it and recommend it, especially because it's free.

What I've seen, comic books come in cbz, cbr, or pdf files. I use comic zeal to read the first two (paid app) and totally recommend it. I know that there is a manga file reader but I don't know the name or how good it is. Check on ilounge.com for reviews.

Yup, there are prettier apps for comics, but most of them crash if you have more than 100 issues in it. My ComicZeal has hundreds of isues and still flows fine.

At the risk of being dismissed as a simple Apple Hater, I have to agree that the Ipad is overpriced, when you consider what it is lacking. No Flash, no SD card slot, no USB input, no AVI, XVID codecs and so on.

I watch avi and mkv files on my iPad all the time.

Wow, this thread derailed.

I like my Ipad 2. Its thin, its light, its sexy, and it fits my needs.

Maybe a Xoom would've done the same thing. Who knows. I decided to buy an Ipad 2 and i'm really happy with that decision.

BTW, I just recently bought a Smart Cap (case that goes on the back of the Ipad 2) on gmarket and it goes BEAUTIFULLY with the smart cover.

(Item D20). I got the white one. Very well made case, I'm very impressed.

So what are the competitors to the iPad 2? How much do they cost? Why are they better?

Here's the list: http://store.apple.com/kr/browse/home/shop_ipad/family/ipad/select?mco=MjE2MjYyNzA

I just ordered a 32gb wifi+3G model. Shipping time is around 1-2 weeks, although the rep told me it could be sooner. I confirmed that they are, by default, carrier unlocked.

Checked with wireless carrier stores they are selling the 16 GB wifi version with an egg2 (for Internet) for 40000 won a month on a 2 year contract. Not a bad depending on the monthly data plan you get with the egg (didn't ask on data plan)
