Hi I am applying for the EPIK program in September and need some advice regarding documents. I have called the South Korean Embassy in London and their advice was simply " ask your Recruiter " although my recruiter is very nice they are based in the USA and seem to have no idea of any of the process in England. Their advice was " look on the internet "
Firstly the criminal record check which is the Basic disclosure - Does this just need to be notorized by a solicitor ? Notorized by the solicitor and then apostled by the foreign office ?
Secondly - The apostled copy of my degree ? Am i correct in thinking that this can ONLY be done at the Foreign office ? and costs �30 to have it apostled ?
Thirdly - The copies of my transcripts.. I contacted my university and I have 2 choices one is to have replacement transcripts which cost �25 each and the other choice is to get " certified copies of my transcript " which costs �2 pounds each. WHich of these do i need ??
Any help or advice would be much appreciated !! |

1. Yes, it does. You can ask Basic Disclosure to notarize it for you, though. This is free. If you're already in possession of it, then taking it to a solicitor would be your best bet (don't pay more than 10 quid for that). You then have to send it to the FCO for apostille.
2. It can be done either at the FCO or a private company. The private companies are horrendously expensive so stick with the FCO.
3. No idea on this one. I just ordered some and they sent them with out even asking. I would imagine that you would need the latter, but someone else may be able to confirm that. |

That takes the piss that they charge 25 pound per copy. My university did that until a few people complained. Now it's 25quid for 10. they are just sheets of paper with a stamp after all.
As long as they are signed/stamped by your uni, i don't think it will really matter as transcripts for EPIK have to be in sealed envelopes anyway. Make sure you get 3 copies signed and sealed with your unis crest on the envelope. |
