Hi Everyone,

Seeing as people have told me adjustments when I move from California to Korea, could you guys advise me on the following areas:

1. Cell Phone

(Should I buy a new cell phone plan, or is there a way to continue my existing plan from AT&T?). Of course, I don't want any of my friends to lose my numbers, or not be able to contact friends.

2. Power Adapter

Is there a power adapter that will allow me to use my North American devices in Korean power system?

3. Any other devices I am not thinking of?

Buy a new cell phone in Korea. It's cheap--bills can be as little as 30,000 won. But it depends on how much you use it. End your service in California. An alternative to talking to people back home is to use Skype (it'll cost a little bit of money, but you can have it hooked up so that when people call the Skype number, it reaches your cell phone.

I have a cell phone and just call America from Korea. The tally of my calls to America last month: 48:52 minutes, cost: 7,243 won. So you could always just call home on your phone using the 00-700-1 (dial area code and number). My service is LG and they'll take the money direct deposit each month.


Power adapter--for sure. They have those at the store. Not sure which since I've never had to buy one. Maybe it's easier to find them at home, bring them with you. That's what my Dad did when he came for a visit.
