I have not done an FBI background check before. Do I simply have the state police do the fingerprints and then mail everything to the FBI? Do I get more than one copy? Can I ask for one? I am also going to do a regular state police background check for a job offer in the Emirates. I know Korea needs the FBI background check now. Things have changed since I was last there in 2009.

How did you get a job offer from UAE? Is there a job forum for that country? I heard they pay more.
FBI site, sumbit your application + 18 dollars. Then you have to submit for apostille. You can expedited it or wait 3 weeks for the apostille.
South Korea is an apostille country.
United Arab Emirates is not. You have to go through a very lengthy process.

I have applied for some Korean uni jobs, and I will keep applying. I also applied for some in Oman. I am going to check in detail for what the UAE has and hit the university websites. I want to have as many options that I can have. The UAE can pay up to 4,000-4,400 for people with a master's as far as I understand. In Korea, you work less. There are different toss ups. I am going to do an FBI background check just in case I need it. I do not yet have a job offer for a UAE job. I am working on that and hope to find something. I don't mind going back to Korea, but I prefer somewhere new. The UAE is closer to Europe and various parts of the Middle East that I'd like to see. |
