I sometimes wear 1 day disposable contact lenses, but was informed recently that there are 30 day disposable contact lenses available and you can sleep with them in. Now chances are these have been around for years, but sadly it's news to me. Has anyone worn such lenses and can I buy them in Korea?
I've worn the daily disposables for longer than i day before, but after 36 hours I start to get a blue cast over my vision...
Yes, I should really go for Lasik, but I'm too scared something will go wrong! |

I wear, and sleep in, 2 week disposable acuvue contacts. I've been doing it since i was in 6th grade. One pair will usually last me 3 to 5 months. |

Are you on about disposables, i.e put them in and leave them in for 3 months or just the ones you put in in the morning and take out when you go to bed, leaving them to soak in solution? |

If you are going to wear contact lenses, the healthiest ones are the 1 day disposables. Put them in in the morning, then throw them away at night. Open a fresh pair the next day. No matter how much soaking and rubbing you do, the ones that are washed and re-used are never as clean as the 1 day lenses.
The ones that you sleep in are not healthy. Sure, many people do it and have no issues, but it's risky and not very good an idea. If you truly want to be able to wake up and not put lenses in, get surgery. |

no, i don't take mine out, not even at night. I've never had an eye problem. If i'm out at a smoky bar or something i might have to take them out and clean them the next day, but that's about the extent. |

That's really unhealthy. You've been lucky so far, but my cousin is an ophthalmologist, and that kind of contact wear causes long term effects. The daily throwaway ones cost more, but are far healthier. |

My aunt almost went blind by doing what you're doing. You're begging for a serious eye infection. |

OK. So has anyone used contacts which you CAN sleep in. I did a bit of research and have found a couple of products that have been 'FDA approved'. Does that mean anything in this day and age? I'm more interested in using them for vacations, i.e now and again not regular usage. |

This is good timing as I have a contact related question.
Has anyone had any luck with the Opti-free solution found at pharmacies? I am thinking about starting to use that brand but I haven't used it before. Back in the US I just picked up the drug store name brand general lens storage and cleaner saline stuff. |

I tested them out when I was 18 or so. They felt fine, but they aren't healthy. Plenty of things are FDA approved. That doesn't mean that it's worth risking your eyes. Seriously, the healthiest lenses are the ones that you use for a day then throw away.
@Molly
Optifree is fine. I used that or Renu back home. |
