They're not exactly the best either though in my exp.

* Lonely! You have only the same one co-teacher to talk to every day. And the resident teachers at the school virtually never come onto contact with you, much less want to socialise with you because you're only a P/T teacher.
* Co-teacher issues. After day 2 it quickly becomes apparent she is not only incredibly lazy, but also is your only official supervisor.
* equipment: There may be zero projector, marker pens or even clean paper. Becuse you've been left the classroom nobody else wants.
*Payment problems: it appears that the dodgy agents that set up A/School shows tend to be on the corrupt side. Some my even have gangland connections. Either way, there is no proper regulation.

Fringe benefits of Public Schools

1)School lunch. Nutritious and cheap. Plenty of vegetables and a balanced meal. If only the salt was a little less...

2)Sports with the kids. Everyday I have the chance to play sports with the kids for an hour and they will run you ragged. Great exercise.

3)School Clubs. English Drama Club. Chess Club. Getting a Girls Soccer team formed. A nice break from teaching.

4)Large classes. Some people hate large classes. I love them. Certain activities are far easier to pull off. The discipline style for 30+ is more enjoyable for me as well.

5)School events. Sports Day, Children's Day Festival. Teacher's Trips, Teachers Dinners, School Plays, Air Raid Drills, The Defeat Communism Speech Contest, Field Trips, Graduation, etc. A nice chance to be "part of the community" and participate in these things. Of course the misanthropes out there cringe at such things, but they just have unbalanced emotions.

6)Getting to craft the English Zone. Choosing Decorations. Choosing books for the library. Designing Posters and stuff.

7)Minions. The entire student body can be your minions for whatever task you desire. Feel like a burger at 3PM? Send off the minions and give them 500 won. Need materials cut and glued? Minions!!!

8)Getting to design and make hands on materials and crafts. The cutting, the drawing, the gluing. And then getting to do those things in class with your students like Christmas Cards and stuff.

9)Getting known in the community. Parents know you and give you good service because you're a teacher. Freebies and stuff. Hagwon parents just seem completely mercenary.

I work from 1-5pm and go home....100% no BS. I don't need to worry about socializing at work....I'm at home while others work.

If I want to talk to the resident teachers(don't care), I'd eat lunch with them.

Even the parents are more chill in afterschool programs since they're cheap. The biggest complaints we've had is:

Price was raised slieghtly compared to last year(95%)
I give too much writing homework(2%)
Child hates his english name(3%)

Wether you know it or not, hagwon moms are usually chewing you out behind your back all day and night becuase they pay so much more.
