Sorry if this topic has been discussed somewhere on this board but I can't find an answer.
I'm Canadian and will be applying to teach in Korea. Will I be needing a police check from New Zealand if I only lived there for 5 months? Also, I taught in Korea from 2008-2009 and got a police check from Korea last year. I'm thinking I probably wouldn't need a new police check from Korea since I haven't been back there since 2009. Is that correct? I've learned the hard way that it's better to be safe than sorry when applying for jobs in Korea!
Thanks!! |

Are you currently living there? If not, don't worry about it as they will never ask or know. |

I'm not there now, but I was teaching at a language school there up until an earthquake in february, so it's on my resume. Unless I take it off, but I figure the more experience on my resume, hopefully the higher my pay will be, but it would be way easier to just omit it. |

I'd leave your NZ experience on your Resume because as you say it will be benificial for your job and salary prospects.
I don't think you need to worry about a Police check from NZ. If you do then the police check from NZ is very basic and straight forward, therefore you receive it much quicker. I got my first one that I applied for from Korea in 8 working days.
Just check any NZ Embassy online. For instance the NZ Embassy in Seoul has a direct link on it's front page for English teachers (or it used to have the last time I checked over 2 years ago ) |
