Hello all, just got here yesterday and am staying in Incheon. I really need some help finding my cat kitty litter or figuring out what people do. The local groceries don't have it, and we went to a bigger market and didn't find any. The bigger market had food, and a few toys, and a scratching post, but no cat litter. We've tried to use sand from a construction site outside and even some rabbit liner but he hates it, I'm afraid if he doesn't go soon he's going to have real problems, but he's such a well trained little guy that he won't go in anything he's not used to. Please help me out here, besides the shock of culture and trying to learn how to teach, I have this constantly lurking in the back of my head.

You can get it at most pet shops or vets there are plenty of them around, ask a co-worker if they know of one locally or look for 동물병원 ( animal hospital ) if you have an emart or homeplus ( large supermarkets ) nearby then they often have a section for pets and might be able to get some there. Also check wwwgmarket.com ( online shopping site ) you can search and order in English and tends to be a bit cheaper but may take a few days for delivery

Let me know if you need anymore info

Go to this site:

http://local.daum.net/map/index.jsp

Paste this into the search blank: 인천 동물병원

This will show you the animal hospitals in Incheon. If you can find yourself on the map you should be able find one of these near you. If they don't have litter they can surely point you to a pet shop, emart, etc.

Looks like there are even a couple right near subway stops.

Good luck!

In the future, you should probably order cat litter online. It's quite expensive at most stores and cheaper online.
Here's a site a friend uses:

www.hicat.co.kr

They have lots kinds and brands and it's quite cheap. They charge
3,000 Won for shipping for orders under 50,000 Won (it might be a bit more to Incheon - I'm not sure).

The site is only in Korean, so you will need some help to order. But once your kitty gets used to a certain kind of cat litter, I think it would be worth checking to see if that kind is available on the site and you can compare the price.

I've been using www.cucucat.co.kr since bringing my cat over in January. It has everything you could ever think of, including cat hanboks. They also send samples with every order and deliver it within 1 or 2 days, although I live right next to the town they're based out of so it may be faster for me.

We usually order from www.ezshopkorea.com. The site is in English, and delivery is usually pretty quick. In the meantime, try to get yourself to Lotte Mart or E-Mart. You should be able to find some there. Smile

Thanks for the thread. My cat and I should be arriving within a month, and this aspect is what is stressing me out the most.

has anyone seen the kind that is made from recycled newspaper? I used it for the airplane ride and she was really comfortable, plus it's lightweight.

I buy kitty litter from the Nabiya cat shelter in Itaewon. You can find them easily on facebook or at www.nabiya.org

I order it through email with Allie, and it is delivered to me within 2-3 days after payment.

It's the best litter in the world, the kind made from pine dust, so it comes in pellets, and as the cat pees on it, it becomes a flushable powder. I think I paid about 15,000won for a 17L bag last time?

The proceeds from buying it go to help the kitty shelter as well!

I've been pretty happy with the stuff they sell at Costco. It's 35 lbs. for about 12,000 won. A b***h to carry home, but lasts a long time.

Kitty and I are getting ready to fly home again. For the trip here, I put her litter box in the crate and she slept in the box. The recycled newspaper pellets were lightweight and she seemed pretty comfortable. I'm hoping to find it again, but the pine type sound alright if I can't find it.

Where do you live in Incheon? I think my vet carries cat litter as she's got 2 cats.
I second using the internet to buy cat litter. I don't have a cat but I had a guinea pig and we used some recycled paper litter for her when we could find it.

I second buying it online. It is cheaper and they will deliver it to your door. You can also try gmarket as well. For food the best one out there is Royal Canin which is French.
