I just got an iPhone, and I'm looking for a great English-Korean dictionary. There are DOZENS of them, and most of them are over $10, which I'm willing to pay if it's worth it, but I'm just not sure which ones to look at. Does anybody have any apps they can recommend? I often use my dictionary for translating songs and such, so anything that also gives common idiomatic expressions in the definitions would be particularly useful. Thanks!

Any other apps or podcasts you use to study Korean, or just for Korean life in general, would also be appreciated!

as far as a simple translator goes, Google translate does the best job IMO. the paid apps are nice, but only if your Korean is quite good as most of them are not too great if you are learning Korean as they don't supply the definitions for the Korean words.

YBM is fantastic. I've used it since I had my ipod touch and I recommend it to everyone. Their support is responsive if you ever have an issue, and they'll write you back in English.
The dictionary has a ridiculous amount of content in it.
Translators for asian languages are terrible for anything but the most basic sentences.

I second the YBM dictionary recommendation. Best one I've seen so far (and I checked most of them out via appleus

+1.

I paid like $20 for it when it first came out because it was the best (at the time there were only like four or five and the others were utter garbage).

I highly recommend the colezhu korean english dictionary. Great interface and programming, and it's cheap (I think I paid 1-2 bucks). Gets updated frequently, and as a fluent Korean speaker, I can say that it is also extremely accurate and does a good job of explaining slang.

Unless he's updated it the colezhu dictionary was utter crap the last time I used it.

I have both of those dictionaries. The YBM is far better, but the Cole Zhu one wasn't too bad either. On my old iPod touch, YBM took a while to load. With my iPhone 4, YMB is fast.

I downloaded the YBM dictionary at you guys' recommendation, and it looks great. I really like that they have an idiom section, too. Thanks a lot! ^^
