I'm still waiting to receive my apostilled criminal background check from the U.S. State Department. They received it on April 11th, but they haven't placed it in the mail to return it to me yet. I know this because I have delivery confirmation and a tracking number. About how much longer do you think it will be? Should I be concerned? I'm starting to worry that I won't be able to get my visa paperwork in time. |

It took almost 7 weeks for me to get mine back.
Just getting the CBC took 6 weeks, so all in all it took me over 3 months.
(Double)Doh!
Your luck will be better than mine, I'm sure. |

They say on the website it takes up to 15 days after processing. So around the 25th is when you should have got it.
Mike, did you include a self addressed stamped envelope? I've never heard of the FBI apostille taking 7 weeks. |

Yeah, I included the self addressed envelope.
I had no idea it'd take so long.... good thing I wasn't in a rush.
I think I just had some bad luck. |

I mailed mine off March 20, and got it back April 20. Exactly a month.
On top of the 15 day processing time, their web site mentions that they have an extra screening process in their mail room before that time frame starts. |

They finally put my apostilled background check in the mail this morning. So they received it on April 11th and put it in the return mail May 4th. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones since it's not been 7 weeks, but it's still been a very stressful process! |

Shoot. Forgot to include the self addressed envelope. Probably have to wait another 6 weeks. Is it all worth it I wonder? |

I got my apostille within two weeks. I called them after a week and spoke to a lady to ask about when I could expect it, she asked my name and what zip code it was mailed from. She found my form, told me she'd make sure it was mailed out the next day, got it later that week. |

Interesting, Hokie. What number did you call?
And thomas: Yeah, it's still worth it, but it will probably take over 5 or 6 weeks. Hopefully you're patient and not in a rush. |

I called the US Dept of State. I believe the number was 202-647-4000 I told them I had recently sent in my FBI CBC and was hoping they would be able to tell me when I could expect it. They transferred my call and a very friendly lady asked me my details, said yes they had received it and everything looked in order and she'd take care of it.
It seems if you show a bit of initiative then they will accommodate you.
Oh and this was recent, last month.
