a) What is it?
and,
b) Where did you see it?

I brought with me a 22oz. bottle of Deschutes Hop Henge. It remains in my fridge for safe keeping! But apart from the bottle I brought, the most notable I've seen in two months has been Samuel Adams Boston Lager at Home Plus. Not impressive :p

In Chuncheon-- I guess they got a case of it a couple of weeks ago-- I bought two when I first saw them, and they hadn't sold anymore as of this past weekend.

The Hop Henge looks like a nice beer (according to the beer advocate). I wonder how that accidently got shipped to Korea. Where did you pick it up?

The mention of having 'seen' Hop Henge was meant as a joke. I brought it with me in my checked luggage ;)

I've also seen the little green bottles of Mickey's at Home Plus in Anyang.

hoegaarden

Belgium is in North America? ^^

But if we were going to mention Belgian ales, I'd have to list Leffe Brune and Duvel!

I posed the original question because I'm in search of a decent North American pale ale in Seoul/ Gyeonggi-do. Or in truth, any ale with an even moderate hop presence.

I learned Leffe is owned by InBev these days, so that explains why you can find the stuff in Korea.

But yeah, getting into European beers, there's Duvel- I remember first seeing it available at a WaBar...but they tried to serve it to me on ice! Tragedy, that.

Probably the best bottled beer I've had thus far is Cooper's Best Extra Stout, though Kozel comes close. Both of which I found at the Ilsan homeplus.

Of course, there's always Craftworks, an oasis of good beer. Can't really take it home with you, but it's definitely worth checking out.

Kozel is my favorite these days-- Suprised as to how good it really is (the golden version), and I've never heard of it before....

Ah, Cooper's. Haven't seen it at my Home Plus. I was a little surprised not to have found Sheaf's stout here. There seems to be more awareness of Australia in Korea than in the US, albeit in a different sense.

Will try Kozel. I'd never heard of it before, either.
