Ok, obviously, I'm a little bit confused.
I understand what a troll is but I'm not so sure what a sock is.
Can someone help me please. Hopefully, I can learn something new today |

Awesome, cheers NYC_Gal 2.0 It all makes sense now. So I take it the sock doesn't sound as self righteous as shall we say the 'troll' (in this case).
He tries to be someone who sees that the 'troll', as making a valid point, although the said 'troll' is obviously misguided and somewhat misunderstood. But the 'troll' is really someone who has their heart in the right place even though if he comes across as a somewhat 'tool'.
Well, even though I now understand, it just makes the whole matter somewhat distasteful. I may well need soju to clean out my palate.
Damn you OP, I really strive every day to be a positive role model but now you have forced me to drink. Shame on you |

Glad to help. A sock could also be someone who was banned, so created a new username. It's always fun to out them when they slip up. |

can I ask what "OP" means in the context of thread posts? I see this used a lot and I have no idea what it means.

When used as a person, it means Original Poster -- the person that started the thread.
It can also be used for Original Post, if someone is talking about what the original message said.
Therefore, "I disagree with the OP" could mean I disagree with the person that started the thread, or else I disagree with what was said. However, "the OP is a twit" would be in reference to the person only, as a message can not be a twit, whilst the person delivering said message can.... |

I accept that challenge- though a fair warning to your comrade, I am a level 45 keyboard warrior with a a blackbelt in one-finger word pecking techniques.
Thanks for the info about the OP thing. That makes so much more sense now. |
