Right, except for that fact that one can get trashed on soju for less than 5 bucks. |
I know that, the taxman knows that, yet he can still say the same thing - call it hypocrisy, if you'd like - that 'hence we're keeping the same leash on Soju manufacturer as well.'
You might think there are a handful of Soju manufacturers out there regardless of market share, but they're mere bottlers, not distilleries in its common-sense definition.
Any and every drop of 95% ethanol distilled by those 'manufacturers' is mandatorily supplied to a company called Korea Ethanol Supplies Company, who then distributes the material back to each bottling facilities for one's own syrup/sweetener 'recipe' which turns out to be different 'brands' of Soju.
And this Ethanol Company is under the direct protection of Korean government, with the mandate of monopolistic demand, which leads to water-no-alcohol-tight taxation. |
