|
|
I've just received the sad news that my Taid (grandad) has died and I really want to go home and pay my respects. He was a huge part of my life and if the boss allows it I want to go home next week as I think that will be when the funeral is . . . I'm waiting for the funeral news.
Does anyone have any advice or good tips for getting a cheap flight back to the UK at such short notice. I've trawled the most popular sites and the cheapest I can find is gbp 830.00 Any help is appreciated.
Thanks |

My condolences to you and your family...
You might also want to check on bereavement airfares. It used to be that airlines offered deep discounts (and even seats on fully booked flights), but these days (according to a few quick web searches I did), it seems it may not be the best option for such situations. But it might be worth a try.
Again, sorry for your loss. I hope you can find a way back home to pay your respect to your grandpa. |

wouldn`t bother with most of the UK sites like Expedia/lastminte.com as they usually are more expensive than the K travel agents and K websites.
Try Sohotravel and Shoestringtravel....but not open Sundays.
Onlinetour.co.kr (if you can read hangul, need explorer) - easier to navigate and identical prices to whypaymore.
KLM are sometimes not bad through their website....might be best option if you want to book immediately. |

Most still do, but you need to provide the death certificate and pay full price up front. |

My husband got a deal with Delta to go home to the States, it was a bereavement flight, and it was only a hundred dollars cheaper, but it was a flight that he could cancel or change without any penalties. Call the airlines directly, don't use the websites. The assistants on the phone are there for a reason, and they will help you as much as possible.
In order to get the bereavement flight, we just had to provide the name of the relative that passed, and the details of the funeral (funeral home and date of funeral). |

| Try 072.com for last minute flights. You may get lucky with something. |

Have you tried Emirates? I've flown to and from Seoul three times with them and each time was under 500 return. But, that was always a little in advance. So maybe last minute bookings will be a bot more expensive.
Good luck |

I usually find the best results at www.cheapoair.com. You should know, however, that if you DO find a good deal there, you'll have to ask one of your American or Canadian friends to pay for it on their card as only cards issued in North America are accepted for payment. |
