I'm taking suggestions on where to go? (I understand this leaves me wide open for a flood of insults)

But...
I want to get out of Seoul next weekend, where in korea would you suggest seeing, its time to see what this country is all about.

How many days do you have?

I suggest the south, Gyeongsangnam-do and Jeollanam-do have some awsome spots. You can go to Boseong, to see the green tea plantations, and when there also visit some of the beaches nearby. Its a beautiful area. You can then go to Mokpo and the surroundings. Or, go the other way. In Gyeongsangnam-do you could see Namhae, which is IMO the most scenic place in Korea. Geoje-do is also very nice.

Boseong has some wonderful picturesque tea-covered hillsides. Very breathtaking. I missed them when on a trip to Gwangju.

Cheonchun, east of Seoul, has beautiful countryside.

I'll also suggest: Saraksan/Seokcho beach. Jeju.

Jeju, Daegu, Pohang, Busan, and Andong are on my list of places still left to see.

What's area in the southern part with all the cherry blossoms? Are they still remaining?

If you're from NF, you might not be so dazzled by mountains. I know I'm not. The caves near Samcheok were cool. Gyeong ju was very nice- lots of historical stuff. Gangwhado was very peaceful and close to Seoul if you're pressed for time.

I'll give you a ton of suggestions tomorrow. My lesson plan for the day involves helping my students to plan a trip to show foreigners around Korea- I'll pass along their ideas.

Kangnung/Gangneung, south of Soraksan on the east coast. Beautiful place, though the highway there is clogged on holiday weekends. I was last there in 1997 and would love to return but I'm at the opposite end of the country.

I'd show you around (like I did another at Dave's) but next weekend I'm planning my first ever trip to Seoul.

I highly recommend the Min Sok Chon folk village in Yongin? I lived in Suwon and it was only a 5 minute cab ride to there.

If you are into seeing how people lived over the last several centuries it is quite nice.

They have a traditional Korean wedding ceremony daily.

The silly hat dance(my apologies to Koreans but I dont know its real name but its the one where they dance, beat drums and wheel around twirling a streamer from the hat)

The best samgatang in Korea that I have had so far.

At the rear of the folk village is a restuarant area that serves some of he best Korean food I have had.

Traditional Korean crafts are for sale as well, I bought some Brass dragons there for about 20,000 won and they look great.

There is an amusement park there as well for kids.

I have been there 4 times and would like to go back again, I keep forgetting to go through the confusis museum.

I suggest the following places (if you haven't been allready!)

Sorak San
Great national park, mountains and some decent camping opportunities.

Jiri San
Great hiking opportunity and not too crowded (when I went anyways)

Kyungju
Lots of things to see and do for a one or two day trip.

ChejuDo
Good spot for a weekend visit.

The east coast is definitely nice. Maybe I'm biased because I live in Kangneung, but it's a great place to be.

I'd recommend Sorak San (near Sokcho). Sokcho, Kangneung, and Donghae are nice places to visit, especially in the summer. Kangneung will be holding it's annual Danoe Festival and the International Folklore Festival from June 11-27, for people that would like to see other things while out here.

Like Lemon said, it's really busy here during the summer - millions of people flock to the beach, but it's still worth a trip.
