Hi, newbie here. Planning on going to Korea this summer to work for a year. Does anyone have experience with a recruiting agency named "gone to korea"? (gone2korea.com)

They sound legit and have not found any complaints or warnings about them on the web. Searched youtube as well, and there was one vid that was positive. I'm thinking about using them and Princeton Review Korea, which came recommended by a friend's brother who taught with them few years back.

Appreciate any feedback.

I've heard of them as well, but don't just use one or two recruiters, use as many as you can. Don't wait for them to send you jobs, go on Dave's Job board, Worknplay.co.kr's job board, and craigslist and start contacting the posters of as many good-looking jobs as you can. If you wait for one or two recruiters to send you jobs, you'll be waiting a looooong time and you'll be stuck with 3 or 4 contracts that meet the criteria you want.

Speaking of which, in my job search I've found it's important to know what criteria you want.

Public or private?
Location?
Age range?
Working hours?
etc, etc, etc

If you only go with one or two recrutiers, you're just going to get whatever is closest. Give yourself a chance by getting in contact with people who post jobs that are close to what you want.

Also, don't forget that recruiters are only a way to be introduced to a school. They can't guarantee your job in any way, and they will lie through their teeth just to get you to sign so they can get paid. I have one recruiter I'm talking to that is literally belittling me because I'm so stingy when it comes to the contracts she sends me. In summary, don't believe anything they tell you, the only person you can somewhat trust are the teachers who work or have worked at the schools you interview for.

Write up a general resume and spam it to every single recruiter you can find. Be FIRM on your locations, don't let them bait you into "its only 30 minutes from Seoul!".

Do millions of interviews, turn down thousands and thousands of garbage offers, spam more recruiters and find that one gem of a contract.
