Yeah, one of my more enterprising students did give me a huge plate of rice cake on Friday, so I knew something was up. Smile

Man, I got a whole lot of nothing on Friday! I hope Monday yields better results. I could use some nice soap.

Nothing from my public school's parent organization or the students who generally like me and normally have a good rapport with. Felt kinda sad but hey we're just guest teachers.

Principal served Chinese food to us with beer and the trimmings. Nice gesture.

Nada... but to be fair, I don't exactly go overboard with the work effort like I did in the past, so I'm actually okay with that. On the other hand, when I did go overboard, I also got nothing, and that made me angry... so things are better now.

im actually comtemplating giving back a $300 pen, Burberry cologne, an Armani tie and countless other things...and u guys are complaining that you didn't get anything...

why dont u guys just be happy u got a job seeing as you didn't back home...

Why would you give anything back? The parents got it for you because they wanted to (and more than likely can afford to). I'm quite happy with the haul I got this year, and I'm cognizant of the fact that my gifts have improved alongside my teaching.

I heard a couple of the other NET teachers were made to give their stuff back, I wasn't told anything, but I don't want to feel obligated to do anything for the parents if they ask for something special, especially if it's about favoring their kid...

The parents at my school volunteer a lot and are very involved in their child's education, its only a matter of time they approach me directly and start asking me for stuff...

We shared A LOT of cake and goodies in the teacher's room and I got several bars of soap and a pair of pantyhose. I would have preferred socks over pantyhose, but what can you do?
Also I wrote Thank You cards to the parents who addressed gifts to me directly in hopes that word will spread to the other parents who may be guilted into buying further gifts.

/action praying for socks/lipstick/mascara.

My Teacher's Day loot included: handwritten notes, candy and chocolate, handmade soap and a pair of socks , and rice cakes from the principal. Not much of a loot, really, but sweet nevertheless.
