|
|
So tired of not being able to speak to people. I want to learn some more Korean! I'm in search of a Korean language phrasebook, e.g. the Lonely Planet Korean Phrasebook.
What is a good English language bookstore in Seoul?
Or alternatively, do you know where I might be able to find this book or one similar? Of course my intent is to avoid paying a shipping rate 2 - 3x the cost of the book itself ._. |

If I can't be bothered to go to What the Book or another bookstore and it's not available from Gmarket, I order books from bookdepository.com. Free shipping to Korea, arrives in about two weeks. I've looked into ordering from What the Book, Kyobo and Bandi and Lunis before but they couldn't beat Book Depository for the selection, price and free shipping. |

You can find that book and actual Korean study books (grammar, writing, reading, etc) at the big bookstores in Seoul (Kyobo, B&L, YP).
I know I have seen it at the three bookstores near Jonggak Station. This was a few months ago though.
Sorry for the little hijack but does anyone know if you can get Korean study books in electronic form? I recently bought a Kindle and have been spoiled by the ease of just carrying that around instead of real books. Which has really put a lack of motivation on my Korean study time. |

It is standard fare in all the larger bookstores like Kyobo, etc.

I haven't visited one yet, but thanks for the bookstore information.
I also found that some Korean internet book retailers (like Aladin) also stock some English language books, including Korean phrasebooks. |

ITAEWON FREEDOM!!! There is a large english book store just down the street from the main gate, near the subway. its in a big brick building i think. and it's opposite to all the kiosk shops.
I am sure some one else can describe it better than me. |

IIRC, you live in Uiwang. You can probably find something at the Kyobo near Anyang Station, if you don't feel like trekking to Seoul. |

Thanks, northway.
I pass by / through Anyang station pretty often, but didn't know of Kyobo. Am sure to visit. |

It's in the CGV building, it should be on the maps in the station if you don't know where it is. |

For all the whining that people like to do about the owner of 3 Alley Pub being a douche and hence not visiting there, I'm shocked that no one has brought up a fact that the owner of What the Book is ten times the douche! |

Why? I've only ever seen Korean women working there. |
