I want to make a sort of checkers game for my family. The board would be wood. The pieces would be wood. I guess it would have to be cut, sanded, varnished and painted. I want to do as much of this as possible on my own.

I think I could easily do everything but cut it, since I have no cutting equipment... so really I just need to know a place where I can get the wood cut to my specifications (pieces and board).

Where would I go in Seoul? Have you had any good experiences? Directions?

First you need speak Korean or someone who can explain it for ajoshi

Go to near Insa dong area, I am not sure exactly now, but if u take exit 3 at Chongak 3ga you will see many streets with small shops where they made things from wood, paper, metal, just enter anyone show you drafts and ask can they do or not.

There are many such streets around Seoul just ask locals and they will show, trolls from here will send you to the forest

Last night I walked past a shop that has a big DIY sign out front. Two separate rooms, one looked like it was for drafting and another with all the tools. Looks like it might be for people to come in and make their own stuff from wood. I'm in Dongtan though, so a bit of a hike. If you're really determined and the other leads don't pan out let me know and I'll look a little further into it.

There's an Alpha office supply and crafts store in Namdaemun that is multistory. Climb to the top and you can find a lot of what you are looking for.
