Amazingly this torrent is still alive. The SN works too. Very Happy

What's really amazing is that Korea still insists on using this POS. Just give it up annd switch to Office like the rest of the world!!

They can't. Government departments (including education) are instructed to use it. It's not a choice. At some time in the past a Korean government thought it important that they have their own word processing software.

I've never really looked at the Hancom Office suite much, but from the little I have seen it just looks like a copy of Microsoft Office. What features does it have that make it necessary for use in Korea? Everybody else in the world uses Microsoft Office, why must Korea be different?

it won't install, or rather it won't complete install. It just hangs after a minute or two.

*edit* Scratch that. Downloaded it again and it works just fine. Good work, nick70100. Despite it's clear crapness, there are times when HWP is needed.

I had success with it too. I'll be seeding during normal business hours.

If someone discovers this in a few years, feel free to e-mail and inquire about this. I'll do my best to keep the .dmg around and be able to re-seed/upload. nstick13 at gmail dot com

Cheers!

a simpler solution would be to have whoever gave you the .hwp file simply re-save it into .doc. HanSoft will do that easily and most Koreans know that they simply forgot to put it into that format for you. If they really expect you to read a doc created by a Korean-only app, there's another issue you'll have to address.

If you are running hansoft yourself, then obviously you can do this.

Another tip: if you only need to be able to read the files, you can get the Hancom reader in the mac app store. I have hangul 2006 for mac, but it's built for powerPC only, so it crawls and crashes on the newer intel macs. Also, when 10.7 Lion comes out, they are dropping support for older powerPC apps, so hangul 2006 wont run anyway...
