Does anyone here know of a highly structured diet program here in Korea that provides all the food, and tells you exactly what to eat and when?
I don't have the self-discipline to go without a highly structured system, especially when I pass a Mickie D's everyday...
The structure is very important for me. |

You will have to open your own franchise, but what could be better?
Lose weight and make a fortune at the same time!

I don't know but I'd be interested to get info on one if such a thing exists. I walk by weight loss centers and "herb diet club" places all the time, but I doubt they're the same. |

If you don't have the willpower to lose weight on your own, joining some dumb group isn't going to help. |

Man, now that's what I call lazy.
It has nothing to do with will power. You can cook healthy and tasty food at home, even with the mini-kitchens we get in Korea. You dip into McDs because you're lazy. So lazy that you want food brought to your door. What's next? People put the food in your mouth and move your jaw up and down? Wow. I guess Wall-E was right. |

In the west, you can buy healthy low fat meals at the grocery store that are quick and convenient. You can also eat out at subway, quiznos, etc. This is for people who don't have time or hate cooking. But here, that option doesn't seem to exist unless you want to eat Kimchi. Was definately more easy to keep weight down in the west, along with more fancy and spacious gyms. Heat and cold keeps you inside for part of the year and the only quick food is either gimbap or hamburgers. Definately isn't always easy to stay slim. Weight loss place that gave you instant meals and an easy to follow meal plan would be ideal. But I bought a pretty good book with some usual tips a few months back.

Some basic recipes, food groups, and good free weight exercises. I haven't done it religiously. But I have noticed some differences in terms of arm strength. |

I think you could try this - I would but I watached it when I was a skinny kid so I did not use it....
You would look cool to just go to a food place and pull out your Deal A Meal cards and say
WHHHHEEEEWWW Deal-A MEEEEAALLLL !
Anyhow I think you should fill you fridge with caarots and greenleaf vegge foods.... and just do not buy chocolate, pork, chicken, and candy like me... oh and maybe just eat fresh water tuna - I knew this HUGE Grunt guy who would just eat tons of Spring water canned tuna and eat that powdered bone stuff and lift and he was the bomb of course in Oki you can't do much else but that and swim...

Suggest you do the P90X exercise program. Sometimes it's easier just to exercise a lot vs. eating well. |

Rice is carb city. Basically, you need a handful of carbs, protein, and a vegetable group for 2 out of 3 meals everyday to be vitally healthy. Maybe a couple of meal replacement vitamin shakes in between or some healthy snacks.
Get enough sleep. As a non morning person EPIK dude, the lack of sleep hurts. It can slow down ones metabolism. |

Is it expensive?
Seriously though, people are in different places in their lives and certain people suck at certain things (like willpower). It's similar to someone who has no fashion sense hiring a professional to fix their wardrobe, or to decorate their house. We should just be happy for people who have taken steps to not be morbidly obese, not wear a t-shirt tucked into jeans with no belt, and not put floral wallpaper on the ceiling.

There are lot of diet and weightloss clinics in Seoul. I'm sure they're not cheap but they provide complete program for you to follow. They run you through a bunch of tests and create a personalized plan based on how you metabolize specific foods, etc. It was all very scientific. I knew someone that worked as a Dietician at one and she did fairly well for herself. |

This is totally false. A good diet ALWAYS trumps a good exercise plan. Diet is number one then exercise.
To the op you def. need more willpower! Maybe you should look into a paleo type diet. Paleo + 5/6 meals a day and you are set. (but not HUGE meals)
Also, do a BMR calculation (google it) and see what your daily caloric needs are. Then cut that by 2-400 calories a day and you will lose weight slowly and healthy. (3500 calories = 1pound so 500 calorie deficit a day would drop you 1 pound a week....seems slow but it is the healthy way to do it and it will be less likely to come back) |

I'm not saying that diet isn't #1. I'm just saying a lot of people find it hard to control their diet in the long-term. Might as well get to exercising. |
