Hi guys, I just got my F-2 visa, and I've only got a few weeks left at my public school before I'm finished, but I heard from my wife that it's illegal for Korean teachers to tutor anyone outside of school (probably because of the risk of favoritism). Does anyone know if this rule also applies to foreigners with f-2 visas? I plan to switch to tutoring full time after I finish at this school, but the transition would obviously be easier if I started tutoring a little before my contract expires. Thanks for your help!

Under the civil service act it is illegal for any government employee (E2, F2, K-national) to take a 2nd job (to prevent conflicts of interest or to prevent using their position to promote their other work).

To answer your question: Yes, it is illegal for you to tutor on the side and if you are caught you will be terminated and possibly banned from work in a public position (any capacity) again.
