I am trying to find a list of how many Michelin Star restaurants there are in the main cities of Asia. I know Tokyo has the most followed by Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau and I know Seoul has some. The one's I saw in Seoul are restaurants with foreign chefs, so not Korean restaurants. I guess is that very few stars have been given to Korean restaurants compared to the Japanese or Chinese restaurants. I just wish I could find an updated list. I guess I could buy the book and it might have it country by country. I don't think Seoul will be high on the list, maybe somewhere in the middle. I am certain that Tokyo, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Taipei and Bangkok are significantly above Seoul in stars and that Seoul will be with cities like Manila, Jakarta and Hanoi. I am real curious about this

There were two but their stars were eventually rescinded.

The only countries to have the Michelin red guide in Asia are Japan and Hong Kong/Macau
There have never been any Michelin stars elsewhere in Asia. There is talk of there being a guide to Korea but I fear they would not do too well here. Men used to white linen and silverware may not take kindly to grandmothers stuffing food in their faces.

I can not find it, but I watched an episode of Bizarre food where Andrew Zimmern was in Bangkok and went to, what he claimed" was a Michelin Star restaurant. I think a lot of the accessible date is not up to date.

Asia is relatively new for Michelin and I believe they will be expanding to more Asian countries.

Also something interesting to note, if you google the top 10 world cuisines, you will see some countries appear on all (at least the several I looked at) the lists.

Chinese
Thai
Indian
Japanese (some list it does not appear)
Mexican
Lebanon
Morocco
Spain
Italy
France
Greek on lots of lists
Indonesian on lots of lists

I never saw Korea on any list

Yeah, the only reason they would have Michelin guides for Korea would be for hotels or something.

The folks with the kind of money to care about this would probably be able to afford a pond hop flight for the night to Japan for truly good cuisine.

He may have said a Michelin starred chef worked there, as in a chef who has had a star in a previous place and is now working there. However, there are no Michelin starred restaurants in Asia other than in Japan and Hong Kong/Macau. Those are the only two places that the red guide have reviewed.

I would assume we'll see Singapore pop up pretty soon.
