"In Halifax, Darcy Spidle and Divorce Records are bringing exciting punk, avant-rock and experimental music to those who crave it. But not content to simply release fantastic seven-inch singles and limited edition cassettes, Spidle has gone a step further through organising the Obey Convention. The second edition of this music festival started on the Friday with a free early evening noise show. Torso (aka Sandy Saunders) gave piercing screams that made his whole body shake, and delivered them over a dark ambient drone with intermittent foghorn-like sounds." - EXCLAIM.CA

UNICORN/TORSO
Split CD Divorce
Beautifully executed in both sound and art, this split from Divorce Records represents two very different coasts both figuratively and literally. Torso featuring Sandy Saunders hails from Nova Scotia, while Unicorn featuring noise veteran, Bill Nelson of Bastard Noise, hails from California. Haunting, vicious and droning with all the subtlety of a chainsaw, Torso offers up five tracks of misanthropic and at times unrelenting brutality and noise. An all out aural assault, Torso does not let up, with Blood Arc and Behind the Field being the standouts here. Though minimalist in nature, the tortured sounds that Torso produce wash over you from the get go. Overall this is pretty sick stuff. A study in spaces and the sounds between them (or is it the reverse?), Unicorn is the more cerebral of the two. Sparse and subtle, these spanning soundscapes are both dark and beautiful, a perfect companion to the gorgeous printed sleeves. In the end, I prefer the Torso side, but not by much. This is an excellent noise split featuring some truly inspired work. - SKYSCRAPER Magazine

Haha! I was just posting this at the same time. I deleted my thread. Great minds think a like.

This could be the largest gathering of Nova Scotians in Seoul.
