In my dream just before I woke up this morning was hearing the Korean National Anthem. It was only in my dream and not playing from a radio or tv etc.
Any oneirocritics out there to tell me what this means. |

You're turning into a 60 year old ultra-conservative ajeosshi who happens to be a Presbyterian Christian. |

Well, I watch the news every morning at around 6 o'clock or so when the stations are coming on. They all seem to start off with the anthem. I'd assume that if you tube (no pun intended...but did notice...keke ) in at those times on a daily basis, then your mind would be set to expect hearing the anthem at the usual time and just adjusted for it during sleeping (even if your TV was off).
Another idea is that you could be either internalizing a soccer-type nationalism that has something to do with the anthem or perhaps consciously thinking about the anthem during the day and have thus pushed it into your subconscious.
The main point is that at some point you must have heard the anthem recently. That, in my view, would explain why you "dreamed of it." In all honesty, I don't think that you actually dreamed of it; it just came out during your dream...like background noise...caused mainly by having heard it recently.
By the way, have you noticed that many songs are based on the same tune in Korea? For example, if you look in SNU's daily planner, you'll notice that the school song is almost identical to the tune of the national anthem. |

Fun fact: South Korea's original anthem (same lyrics) was sung to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne," until 1948. |

True, and its current tune comes from the symphony, Korea Fantasia, by Ahn Eak-tae. |

Fun Fact: The Korean national anthem was created by a (gasp) foreigner. Korea recently bought the rights. I guess the jingoists don't want to think about that one, do they? |

Hardly. Ahn Eak-tae (안익태) was born in Korea, although he did spend a lot of his life outside of Korea (and married a non-Korean). |

Ahn's descendants in Spain recently relinquished the rights of the song. |
