It was a short period. I should have dumped the ex years ago and just started dating my husband from the get go. We're incredibly happy. Sometimes things just work out for the best. Very Happy

No, there were no shenanigans. I'm a good girl.

NYC, you sound a bit ... odd at times. Contradicting yourself, smug and self-congratulatory on occasion, a know-it-all (especially on food-related threads), often (to be fair) nicey-nice to those searching for answers to whatever.

And you exchanged dead rats for a puppy? Interesting. And you will, I hope, be bringing your puppy with you to your next destination once you are done with Korea.

I'm sure you're the most pleasant of people when encountered in person. But still, you seem a bit ... off.

But what do I know??

The only thing off about NYC Girl is that she's actually willing to share so many personal details on a site like this... you're not going to have a good life if you keep making yourself vulnerable to the predators.

Coming here at all is probably a mistake, but treating it like anything less than a place to vent/get into retarded arguments that don't matter is an even bigger one.

I'm not sure. How about you tell us about your views?

I'll start:

Seems like quite a short period between breaking up with your fiance and suddenly becoming married to your friend(at least you call him your husband now). Some behind the scenes action prompt this sudden turnaround?

LOL ohhhh damn, boo-ya!!!

How cynical is this!! A nice little cop-out to excuse your own shortcomings.

Only passive/aggressives getting shown up resort to such caveats.

Why would anyone in their right mind partake on Daves if it were only to vent and get into retarded arguments?

From 'probably a mistake' to 'an even bigger one' is the language you use....what a chancer you are!!

I have to agree with this. I've been a lurker here for a few years, and NYC gal was always one of the most irritating posters on here. I especially agree with the smug, self-congratulatory part. Strikes me as one of those people you meet in real life..... when you tell a story to them they have always done it a little bit better than you, or in a different way which makes your story sound silly. Ya know what I mean?

Isn't everyone a little off? Quirks are what make people interesting.

It's all a matter of opinion. I used this place as a way to vent without letting it spill out into daily life (with the one recent exception on Facebook,) or to get information about life here. If I hadn't been a member of this site, I wouldn't have known that I needed the new FBI check (or that my original degree wouldn't be okay) for immigration.

My plans for the future are undecided, but I'll be taking my awesome puppy wherever the wind blows me. In an emergency, my little sister said that she'd take him in the US, because she loves the dude.

Yeah, I have sounded pretty smug in the past, but have toned it down a great deal. Still, if it has to do with cooking, I'm not going to NOT share information that I've learned over the years. It's a topic of interest for me. <<shrugs>> I don't mean to offend.

EDIT: I didn't exchange dead rats for a puppy Shocked
My rats died within 6 months of one another due to different ailments (one had a respiratory infection that he couldn't kick, and the other dude got cancer, and surgery didn't work). The puppy was at the vet when we were talking the one with cancer for his daily injections, and I learned that he needed a home. How could I not adopt the little guy? He'd been abandoned right after being weaned, so had lost that important first month of bonding that dogs need after being separated from their mothers. He's awesome, but has a bit of trauma from being neglected for an important month. He follows me everywhere, afraid that I'll abandon him. Poor guy. He seems very happy, though, which is good.

Personally, I think it makes more sense to share intimate details anonymously online rather than with coworkers, friends or acquaintances.
Although, sometimes it can paint a dire picture of someone as those details don't usually tell all the happy little things in a person's life or the more optimistic side of their personality.

The reason she seems a bit "off" is because she's head and shoulders above the mundane riff-raff that habitually haunt these moldy boards. The droll comments designed to get a rise out of her are part and parcel of the powerfully strong middle class odor of mendacity that constantly oozes from the sweaty pores of the fungal fed masses.

What's up, kneehighs! How you doin'?!

I don't see what NYC's ex-breakup and current husband is related to anything, or, why it should matter.

Everyone gripes at some point on here, they just do it in different ways: passive-aggressiveness, meanness, wittiness, trolling.

And I agree with DorkPark: being open about your problems while being anonymous is better than doing it on facebook or in other social situations.

You should look into my most recent thread about telling people what you think of them. I'd be interested in your thoughts!
