Hey guys I was hoping that since you are versed in Korean culture you might be able to help me.

I work as a research assistant. Next month I will be traveling to South Korea to present at a conference along with my Korean professor. Part of the time we will be staying with her family. I wanted to give her family some sort of hospitality present, preferably something food related since I love to cook and bake, but I am not sure what to give. I'd love to bake something for the family but I am not sure if that would be well received of if that would even be allowed through customs! I keep hearing that fruit is a great present so I might bring some kind of fancy jams. Do you guys have any advice?

Honey is seem as a luxury here. How about a nice jar of local stuff? Find out if the professor's parents like to drink. Whiskey is also a great gift.

I second the honey idea. Maybe maple syrup if you are Canadian... then show them how to enjoy that on pancakes or a nice bowl of vanilla ice cream.

I don't recommend getting them foreign foods, as some won't really enjoy it (even though they may pretend to).

Well honey is doable, there's a nice honey shop at my local farmer's market so maybe I can swing that.
