| Yeah I know the virus might never go away, I just needed to know whether or not it was on the medical - cos if it is I guess there's no point coming! But I'm told there's no blood or urine test for it so I'm guessing it should be ok. |

| Ok so I got the diagnosis and its not great...I have also been given a precription but I'm led to believe its not very effective. Im meant to be heading to Korea in 2 weeks. Can anyone tell me what the situation with doctors is out there? i.e., if I need more treatment, will they keep it confidential or will I be again at risk of being deported, even tho it wouldn't have showed on my medical? Anyone who can offer me some genuine insight and advice would be much appreciated, I'm currently gutted thinking I might not be able to come! |

| most k immi will just look for a drug test......supposedly they stopped rejecting people with HIV but dont count on it......... |

Incorrect. The health check is a comprehensive examine for drugs, STDs, chronic health problems, etc. That includes a urinalysis, blood check, etc. There is no patient-doctor confidentiality for E-2 visas. If you're found with anything that violates your visa requirements (drugs, STDs, anything that violates the stipulations in your health contract agreement), the doctor is obligated to report their findings to the immigration office.
"Upon arrival in Korea, you are then required to undergo a formal medical check at an approved public hospital or clinic center and the results will be provided to the nearest Korean immigration Office as part of your *ARC* (Alien Registration Card) application." |

by official policy you are correct......i have had several health checks and the hospital(inha uni incheon) or doctor(itaewon international clinic) could have cared less about the results of the health check unless it was something earth shattering health problem and even if there was one they probably wouldnt have reported it to immi or known how/where to report it for that matter......i have also been to several immi offices in different cities and they always just looked for a clean drug test and negative HIV test.......immi asked for those two test results and didnt give the first care to anything else related to a medical check........
in my experience k immi offices in different cities/provinces have different policies and procedures related to E2 visas.......or you can believe the government official word that all k immi offices do the same thing.......
if you have a health problem and it is not HIV or drugs dont volunteer the info and likely it will never be a problem...... |

Hi Holster, hopefully you're still around here! I was wondering if you got tested for HPV in the medical, and if you found out whether it's grounds for deportation? I had one outbreak over 3 years ago and haven't had it since, although I'm aware it may just be dormant in my system as no-one is yet sure whether the immune system can actually fight it off. I'm heading over to Korea soon, and I'm really worried that it may cause a problem in my medical if they do DNA testing for it and it comes up. I know it wouldn't come up in a PAP smear as I haven't had an outbreak in years.
If any other posters have any info on this I'd really appreciate it. Obviously it's quite worrying as I don't want to get to Korea only to be kicked out, over an STD that's so common.
