| Oh my mistake. the trains for me will cost �78 per journey. Even though by car it would cost about �20 total. What the F***************** happened to this country??!!?! |

| Any idea how early you can apply for a basic disclosure before heading to SK? I'm not planning on leaving until early 2012 (EPIK) but was wondering how last minute you have to leave it as a CRB check is only technically valid up until the day you get it? |

Disclosure claims an average of about 9 calendar days. But double that to be safe. It's valid for a while in the UK, I think the 6 month rule only applies to USA FBI check.
But again, to be safe if you're leaving early 2012, start to get the CRC about late october.
Sounds pretty early but you gotta get everything else too, and then everything apostilled and notarized, sent back and forth to korea, etc. And of course all the screw up possibilities mentions in the above post. Yeah, I'd say Late October. |

Train-fares = robbery. Plain and simple.
I paid �130 one-way, twice in one week, to get down to the Korean embassy. Needless to say I got the coach back each time . And prior to this I paid �120, there and back, to get to Milton Keynes for the apostilles. Ridiculous. |

A loving update:
Since the trains are as discussed, a swindle at the best of times, I decided to get the coach for a still extortionate price but slightly more acceptable.
Thinking Korea was a little more reliable than England, I thought that I would have the necessary code by the day they said I would have it - Thursday.
So, I booked the coach, arrived at the coach at 7am, and called Korea to ask for the code. No code. Too late though, my friend and I paid for the tickets. So we went to London and made a day of it.
Of course, The ticket lady mistakenly gave us a single ticket, and to prove it they had to get the manager involved who would then search and research the recorded phone calls to make sure I wasn't lying, costing my phone another �9. As a form of good will for their mistake, they charged us a mere �27 for the journey back for the two of us, rather than the usual �40.
I decided as a last resort to go to the Korean embassy in hope that they could take all the documents, and just hold on to them until tomorrow or ASAP, when I would then call them and tell them the code, completing the process.
Nah, can't do that.
So I went home after some hours looking around.
Not so simple as that. Traffic made a 3 hour bus ride take almost 5 hours.
So now I have to stay up until 3am, having not slept last night and getting drunk with friends who i would see for the final time (supposedly) and I feel destroyed... (The drunkenness has nothing to do with anything since I did everything on time how I was supposed to. Amazing that I can achieve more than two sober countries... actually, what am I saying?) |

Do you mean visa number?
If so, it still takes a week from submitting the number to the embassy (in London) for them to process a visa into your passport.
Don't book any flights yet. They have been known to take longer than a week or of course they might reject your application (even at this stage) on a technicality. Can't be too careful... |

Yeah, I told them that they won't even begin to look at it until Tuesday (the code/number/w/e/ arrived today, I got it about 7am which was already too late for me to go personally. Only thing I could do is spend �155 on personal transport to drive down and delivery it. Which I wasn't about to do.
With the 2 hour opening window it was pretty hopeless. So I'm just going to go down myself on Tuesday first thing. The schools had to delay again and said 9th latest (My birthday...)
It used to be open a total of 4 hours, actually, so I'll let everyone know it now. Even though the front door says 10am-12pm, 2pm-4pm, it's lying. Only 10-12. I assume the rest of the day is a coffee break. |
