I'm pretty new to Korea and I'm looking for good clubs to go to in Seoul. I would really prefer to find some in Hongdae but other places would be fine too. I've been to a few but a lot of them seem to just have a ton of foreigners and cover charges. I'm looking for something along the same lines as Papa/Mama Gorilla where there are mostly Koreans and it's a pretty good dance scene. I don't mind a $5 cover either. Anyone have any ideas?

Depends on what you mean by "good clubs". Clubs i frequent are Eden, Answer, Heaven, Volume, m2, Ellui, 88, Rococco and Walkerhill (when they have big DJ's come in). Hongdae is mainly for the student crowd, although there are plenty of foreigners there. They're bringing back the club Friday deal. Gangnam is for the professionals mostly Korean, Eden and Heaven draw a lot of Gyopos. Gangnam will be 20-30K for cover and drinks (cocktails) will run around 9K. Tables will be around 1M but you get side dishes and a bottle of vodka, tequila or champagne. I've never seen a $5 cover...

He's citing Papa Gorilla, which is a dirty basement bar with pole dancing, so I don't think that's really what he's looking for.

S-Club sometimes has lots of Koreans, and has free entry for foreigners, so you can check out the scene without paying. You're going to be hard pressed to find anywhere as cheap as Gorilla though.

Try Club 2 mad in Shina dong. Brand new, but trying to mix of hongdae/gangnam vibe, but it's a 15k cover.

How is Eden, Answer, and Heaven different these days? I haven't been to that area for years now. And what's Walkerhill like?

Yeah, I mean, I'm still paying off student loans working as a first year teacher. I just graduated in December. I'm not trying to pay $9 for drinks. I want somewhere where I can have some good unwholesome fun while also still feeling like I'm in Korea. So yeah, I don't mind grungy or anything like that. As long as it's cheap, busy, and isn't loaded with white people, I'm sure I'll have a good time.

I'll look into Club 2. Thanks minos.

I like Papa Gorilla a lot. The clubs in Seoul are fun and free (with some exceptions and in Hongdae) for foreigners. Clubs in Seoul are good, because you can club hop to a lot of them in a night because of the free cover. I like Papa Gorilla because the crowd is fun, cheap drinks, good music.

You guys living in Seoul are lucky. I'm near Busan and none of the clubs have free cover (Foxy used to). Busan is great, but Seoul is much better and no cover for most clubs. Hongdae is much better than Kyungsung. Kyungsung is the little brother to Hongdae. The cheapest club (for cover) is Ghetto. It is similar to SKA 2.

(There are some fun clubs in Haeundae, but the cover is steep)

Speaking of clubs, does anyone else get bothered by the smoking and lack of a/c? I smell like an ash tray at the end of the night.

They're getting good DJ's in now so the music is pretty good. Always hot Korean girls (and guys) on the floor. Eden has the hottest girls (and the best ground floor table layout) but they're also the most stuck up. You basically have to book girls to your own table... Answer get's a lot of the major DJ's these days but they're the most expensive. Heaven is the least expensive, but i hate the dance floor because it's so cramped. The girls are easier to approach but they always come in these huge groups so i usually don't go up to them. I've been approached by a few though, which totally surprised me. That usually only happens at clubs like Volume haha.

At Heaven I usually hang out at the VIP floor which is the 2nd floor. Table cost is not bad, just under a 1Mil. Heaven took the place of Club Naked as far as the "after club". Club 88 and Ellui are new but people are talking about them, they seem to be the go to place. I like 88's DJ set up with huge panoramic LED display. Since they just opened up they haven't jacked up the prices for tables so they're still decently priced.

All these clubs are pretty packed these days, except Ellui but that club is huge. Table reservations go pretty quick so call a few days ahead. These clubs are pretty pricey, expect to drop around 300K-500K a night which is probably why i don't see many foreigners at those clubs. Walkerhill is same as usual, i only go there for major parties, saw Benny Benassi there, he's awesome but super expensive for tables though, they're price gougers but people pay so i guess whatever works.
