finally giving iphone a run for its money?
but how are the games that are offered on andriods? |
i'm saying this from a very unbiased standpoint as i own many apple products as well as other electronics products including multiple android phones, but the sII destroys any iphone in terms of pure handset performance. the screen, the proc, the gpu, the amount of ram, integrated dmb, expandable memory. you name it, it's pretty much got the current gen iphones beat.
BUT the infrastructure is what is lacking. i have 0 games offered to me in the korean android market but my iphone market has every game i could possibly want. granted non-game apps are available in the korean android market and i don't sit around playing handphone games that much, but it's still a huge setback for camp korea android. |

It's true, but it's the fault of the Korean government, not Android. The same problem is nonexistent in other markets, as there are a ton of games available on the us market. |

Yup you can blame the Korean government for the lack of games on the Android Market. You have two options: download the game .apks and install them manually (can't do that on stock iOS eheh?) OR you can root the phone, it'll allow you to access other countries' markets. There are games on the respective carriers' markets.
@Juregen: The S2's thicker than the S1? News to me. LG U+ version doesn't count because it's a dud.
The fact that it does run almost perfectly straight out of the box on stock without any tweaking is an accomplishment in itself, considering how most android phones you need to tweak and mod it extensively to get it to run smoothly. |

I'm pretty sure under normal circumstances that I would be able to swap my SIM. However, I think that the NFC technology may be incorporated into the SIM itself. Furthermore this whole SK-MMS technology that the SK model uses really throws a curve ball in planning to unlocking this phone and using it back home. The KT model might be a better alternative and I'll just have to get rid of my BB.
I should only be here for another 9 months so I completely intended on paying for the phone or buying out a contract. |
I bought my phone entirely from SK and it came unlocked (just like my original S). I can't see the phone having any issues with texting via another carrier. Otherwise how could you send and receive a text when roaming? You're using another carriers network so standard protocols must be followed otherwise it wouldn't work. If I can get a chance, I'll confirm this by throwing in a KT sim card into my S2... Also, one could easily flash a new rom to the phone which eliminates any of SK's doing as far as texting as concerned. I can't see any reason to believe that when unlocked, texting won't work with another carrier otherwise as I mentioned, the phones roaming capabilities would be severely crippled (thus making the GSM transmitters included virtually useless for anything but calling). |
