This came up in one of my classes (we were discussing a recent sex scandal). My students said that in America, if you tickle someone's hand when shaking it, it's a sign that you are requesting sex.

I've never experienced this back home, but had some Ajjosshi once shake my hand like this when meeting him in the gym.

I've googled it, and found a few homosexual handshake references.

So, my question is - is this common in the US?

My grandma and I used to do that to each other. I never heard of it as a sexual thing, though.

Yes, I've heard this is a request for sex among older generations. I don't know how common it is. I only learned of this a few months ago.

Never heard of it happening in Canada but one of my friends here in Korea had the (vice?) principal at her public school do this to her. She requested a transfer and got it. He also used to offer to drive her home when she was working late (7pm).

I had been told it was a sign here in Korea but never heard about it being used in the US.

I'd be pretty sure that the gay community in every country where it's still not widely accepted have 'sign' and 'methods' of hooking up with each other.

nudge, nudge, wink, wink!! eh? eh?!

So, to be clear, most Canadians and Americans here have never really heard of it back home?

As with other users, I've used it to be creepy and funny towards friends, but I've never used it as a serious request for sex.

That was a common joke when I was back in secondary school. How does a pedaphile shake hands? Followed by a tickler handshake.

I'm pretty sure everyone everywhere knows or has done this, Canadians and Americans included.

Sounds like someone sticking their hand under the bathroom stall looking for TP.

Yet many posters are saying they haven't.

I have never heard of it.

I've heard of it as an old gay thing. If anyone watches Mad Men, I believe it pops up in one of the episodes in the first or second season.
