I figure I should put this here too as it does pertain to living in Korea.

Oktoberfest's (the name of a microbrewery) yearly Oktoberfest special has started.

Special:
All you can drink microbrew for 10,000W.
Microbrews: Pilsner, Weisse, Radler (Shandy), and Dark
*Edit: This year they charge an extra 1,000W per radler you order. We found out when we received the bill and had an extra 10,000W charge on it.

Where:
At all Oktoberfest venues. (Jongno, Sinchon, Mapo, Seocho, and Gangnam.

When:
Jongno, Sinchon, Mapo from 9/13 - 10/12
-and-
Seocho, Gangnam from 10/18 - 11/17

http://www.oktoberfest.co.kr/bbs/viewbody.html?code=today&id=81&number=81&PHPSESSID=5f52ca8d337033d5ca1a8ed7d204703e

Jongno Oktoberfest directions:
Go to Jonggak Station (Line 1). Take Exit 1. Walk down until you see a side street (not the side street straight out of the station exit). The side street is right before the Nonghyup Bank. Walk down this street a little (you will pass an Izakaya). It will be on your left.

Sinchon Oktoberfest directions:
Go to Sinchon Station (Line 2). Take Exit 3. Walk down until you reach the 4-way intersection. Take a right. Walk down this street a bit until you reach another intersection and it will be on your right on the 2nd floor (I believe).

Gangnam Oktoberfest directions:
Go to Gangnam Station (Line 2). Take Exit 5. Take the first right down the major side street and you will see it on your right. It is in the basement.

Sorry, couldn't find the information to the other ones. Maybe someone else could help with their directions.

This place is good fun and great food. The food is a little pricey but worth it with the great beer special. I would highly recommend going before 6pm to be able to get seats as it fills up real quick. They do not take reservations during the special only walk-ins (well that's the way they did it last year).

They should charge you quadruple if you drink radler.

Who in their right mind mixes 7-up with beer?

Yikes! Mad

Thanks for the info, though! Very Happy

Is it possible to get half decent sour krout and sausages. Not just those mini wieners.

I had Google Chrome translate their website and saw something about 18:00. Does anyone know if the drink special is only before/after 6PM or if there are any other stipulations?

I've spent so much Won at this place it sounds too good to be true! Thanks.

I went to the Gangnam location last night. It was just ok, nothing to get worked up about.

The lady and I waited for about an hour b/w 8-9 before we could get a table for 2. The place was packed with Koreans and suprisingly few foreigners. The atmospehere was nil, unless you enjoy watching drunkards stagger to the bathroom.

I had the weissbier, it was delicious. Not sure it could hold a candle to Hoegaarden or Paulander, but good none the less. She had the Pilsner, which I thought tasted like crap. I know the Germans put a lot more hops in a pilsner than we do back in the states, but this was bad. She changed to the weisbeer from then out.

I drank 4x 500ml, which is about average for me on a weekend night out, but this morning I felt like complete a$$. Lots of water, a big bowl of buttery grits and 2 asprins later have me feeling much better. I can just imagine if I were out with the boys last night how I would feel today. Makes me cringe thinking about it.

My analysis = This man won all you can drink is not worth the hangover the next day!

"I know the Germans put a lot more hops in a pilsner than we do back in the states"

If you live in Alabama. Many parts of 'the states' most the hoppiest beers in the world.

Sorry it wasn't all it was worked up to be. I experience that a lot here.

I was a military brat and an airline pilots kid. Needless to say we moved a LOT (AL, NY, MN, TX, TN, FL, GA, MI). I also brewed my own beer for a few years with my buddies. IPAs were my specialty. So I know hoppy Smile

But thanks for the condolences. Yes, things here often do not turn out quite as you hoped they would. I think it's something about getting too worked up about something before you partake in it.
