|
|
To cut a long story short (I just wrote it and it ended up as a fairly long rant/vent) FedEx have lost my CRB, degree and Apostilles. They have said they will see if the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (UK) can resend the documents. I'm not sure if they can send out another Apostille, but I figure that must have on their system what was actually done.
When sending the documents to Korea do you need to send the original and the apostille?
I have a spare copy of my degree so I can get that apostilled pretty sharpish, but the CRB takes about a month and because I haven't been living at my current address I have to fill in a paper application which they took about 2 weeks to send out last time. I've been offered a job on the condition that my visa documents are here by the end of the week so not only will this cause me to miss out on a job I really want, I've also handed my notice in at my current employers (and been replace) so will be unemployed. ...Sorry, this is turning into a rant/vent/out pouring of self pitty so:
Can the FCO reissue Apostilles without the original document?
Can I make my visa application with my apostilles and not the original documents? |

Nah man. As far as I can see you're really out of luck on this. Is this your first time applying?
An appostile is bascially a small square of paper that the FCO attaches to the back of documents as proof that they are legal and legitimate. If the appostile is removed in any way then it can no longer be used. One with out the other just won't work.
I'm pretty sure I have some images of my CRC check with an FCO appostile attached saved on my desktop. PM me or post up for email if you want me to forward them to you for a better idea. |

Do NOT use FedEx - they lost all my docs too (which they found ten days later in Guangzhou, but still), resulting in me almost losing my current job. They weren't very apologetic about it, either.
Use DHL instead. |

The people who do it here sent it via Fed Ex, I didn't have a choice. I've emailed the school, I know they have a couple of opening in a month or so, should be able to get it all sorted by then.
FedEx don't seem that bothered by it. They've seemed to be trying to avoid admitting any blame for it. They've offered to get the FCO to resend the documents, but as I've found out from this thread they can't do that without the originals. Going to take over a month to get anything sorted and I've handed in my notice for my current job so a fair wedge of my savings for getting myself sorted during the early stages in Korea is going to be going on food and stuff in England. |

Sorry dude .
Unless I'm mistaken can you not still include a pre paid envelope if you are getting it sent to a UK address. So you could buy a 2nd next-day-delivery and keep a note of the tracking number and include it with you application to the FCO. Maybe I'm wrong. |

Go to the Fedex office and raise a big fuss. Demand they take care of it. Tell them how THEY screwed up and it's going to cost YOU money. They took 7 days to deliver my documents one time when it was a 3 day guarantee. I let 'em have it. They don't really care, but when you're in the lobby letting everyone around hear it, they usually do what they can to shut you up.
Good luck on your situation. |
