|

Hey,
So I've been looking to try to find a decent hotel in Angeles. I figure that a lot of people have been there, so can anyone recommend any hotels that they've stayed in? I would like something that is fairly cheap(in the range of $30 US a night), yet still has things like air conditioning, etc. A lot of the places that I've seen online are more expensive than I would like.
Also, would it be better to book a place in advance or can you just wing it and find something when you get there? Just looking for some tips. Thanks. |

There are a few that are 1000 pesos a night. Charlies apartel, Blue Boar, Cox Hotel, Sun and Moon But no pool. if you want one with a swimming pool it will be more. Try looking at http://www.balibago.com
I would suggest for a firs timer to stay at the Clarkton or the Swagman they have a shuttle service to fields Ave. |

The Clarkton starts at about 2000p a night. Don't really need to worry about the shuttle since jeeps run 24hrs a day right out front the door. Swagman is a dump! Bad location!
My recommendation would be somewhere on Malbanias St., Plaridel 1 . You have a choice of about 6-7 budget hotels ...all with swimming pools for about 1000p a night. Not too far to walk, access to jeeps, and trikes are reasonably cheap to-and-from the action.

It's been awhile since I've seen an Angeles thread. No doubt that Wad and Lonewolf know the ropes...

Hey, man, I just don't want to spend a lot on accommodation. I spent around $30 a night on my previous vacation(not the PI) and since I'll be spending most of my time OUTSIDE, I don't want to spend a ton on hotels. Hey, if you enjoy spending a ton of dough on a room, knock yourself out. . I like to be smart about things and get the best deal possible.
Lonewolf and Wad thanks for the tips. Wad, are those hotels fairly close to Fields Ave? I'll be spending half my vacation in Subic and half in Angeles. I want to make sure I am as close to the action in AC as possible, if you know what I mean. Thanks again!! |

Isn't most of the action inside? |

In Balibago you're never far from anything! Walking is never a problem if you choose. You can get a decent room for about 1000p a night. I usually stay at the Hana Hotel (Malibanis St.) and the rooms are small but clean. They have an excellent pool with reasonably good food...albeit a tad expensive. But along Perimeter road (Fields Ave. changes into Perimeter road at Check point) you can find a real assortment of good food ranging in price and taste. Bars up Perimeter are also cheaper then Fields Avenue, but they tend to close earlier.
Cheap Charlie? I don't know about the previous poster, but I think I'd rather spend my money on the action then spend it on a fancy hotel room. You can figure on spending anywhere from 4,000p to 10,000p on a good night. Depending on how generous you are. Believe me the Filipinos are good at extracting your money from you without you even realizing it. Angeles is not cheap anymore! My only suggestion is don't talk to strangers who approach you on the street and take trikes home late at night.
