Ugh, meaning that we may be limited to the Korean Welcome Back content, whatever that is.

It does make sense. Otherwise, the smart thing would be just to make a code in each region and grab a couple games from each.

how can you get korean welcome back content? do you have a korean account?

That's the other end of the problem. I may be able to ask a Korean coworker here to sign up for me once the network is up. Have a lot of DLC to cash in too.

Yeah, I think I'm doing the VPN thing. This is just getting silly, especially since I need to log in in order to revalidate my DLC after my hard drive change.

The problem being, the VPN doesn't work and I don't know why.
Even though I am connecting to the internet through the VPN on the PS3, the PSN is still showing as undergoing maintenance. It is still somehow connecting to the Japanese servers or something.

Just found a couple of promising notes...

1. Apparently, you can download games from the Welcome Back program with any account made before 04/20/11. So I'll be able to use the Hong Kong account I made in order to activate my Sims 3 game's online features.

2. There are some reports of people downloading the games from outside the region, like Americans downloading Europe's selections.

Problem being, America are back online and are accessing the European content through the American servers. We cannot do the same as we have to go through the Japanese servers and so can't even log into the network.
The VPN is not working. They are obviously using a method other than IP for routing to the servers.

As far as I can tell, until the servers are back on for us we won't get access to anything, which could well mean missing out on the welcome back content.

Right. My message was with the (possibly unwarranted) assumption that we will be getting our PSN back in a fairly timely manner.

Which I hope is the case especially for me, since my DLC will apparently not work due to my hard drive change until I can connect to the PSN again.

Tried messing with proxy servers and the like today but just could not get through.

Cross your fingers people,

An article at gamepolitics.com says that the Qriocity services, which power Video and Audio on Demand services will be up in all serviced territories, except Japan.

So either Korea and Hong Kong weren't serviced, the Qriocity can be brought back without the PSN, or we're finally get back online tomorrow.

EvilRyuga

Yeah this is a problem. But like it says you gotta go to Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List and then PlayStation Network Promotions" It works but it took me all day to download the free games. You just gotta be patient with it. Also Playstation Home is giving away free stuff. 100 items to be precise.

this appears to solve my problem.

Yep, not only am I downloading my free stuff, I was able to "activate" my console so all my old DLC works again, and am also downloading stuff I had downloaded of PlayStation Plus before but had to delete due to lack of space.

The system as a whole feels a lot less crippled now.

Oddly Hong Kong seems to be still down.

Oh well, as long as Korea is working, I am happy.

My Japanese and Korean accounts still say the store is under maintenance. US account worked, with some glitches. So looks like Hong Kong, Korea and japan are still out, they're just letting us access our foreign servers. Or maybe putting us through the Japanese based servers to the foreign content.
